Do you realize
if Congress divided this latest "bailout" among the ~ 245 million licensed drivers (presuming they represent, for the most part, the adults in the country.....mostly legal) each of us would receive a check in excess of $3.34 million dollars...........
Maybe this helps you put the enormity of this crime into perspective!
Correction to above post: 850,000,000,000.00 divided by 245,000,000= $3,469.39 not $3.4 million. Still, money I could use.

Minuteman Monthly Newsletter Subscribers,
Here is an alert and request for action.
The Obama Administration is just gaining its footing in the White House and is just beginning to make changes to policy and issuing statements. It is precisely this time period that contacting the White House is essential and can go a long way toward making a difference.
After writing and re-writing President Obama's statement on gun control many times, he and his team have come out with a revised statement on gun control efforts.
The newly revised statement can be found here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/urban_policy/
The statement I'm referring to is under the heading of Crime and Law Enforcement and it can be found about 2/3 of the way down the page.
Here is the paragraph to which I refer:
"Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent."
Now is the time, that we should contact the White directly concerning this statement. On one hand, they say that they respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, but they also say they wish to make the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
They simply cannot have both. The Second Amendment's protections do indeed include semi-automatic carbines, no matter what they look like. Now is the time to contact the White House on this matter.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ Go to this Web page and fill out the form. You have 500 characters to make your statement, so be brief and to the point. I'm not going to suggest what you tell President Obama, but I think we should focus on the fact that respecting the Second Amendment rights of gun owners includes not further regulating or prohibiting paramilitary semi-automatic carbines.
If you want to comment on their ill-conceived effort to make firearms 'childproof', or the Tiahrt Amendment, please feel free to do so.
Thanks for taking action! It doesn't take more than a couple of minutes, but it can make a world of difference especially at this crucial moment as they form their agenda for the next four years.

Rush offers Bipartisan Stimulus
Rush Limbaugh
"There's a serious debate in this country as to how best to end the
recession. The average recession will last five to 11 months; the
average recovery will last six years. Recessions will end on their own
if they're left alone. What can make the recession worse is the wrong
kind of government intervention.
I believe the wrong kind is precisely what President Barack Obama
has proposed. I don't believe his is a "stimulus plan" at all -- I
don't think it stimulates anything but the Democratic Party. This
"porkulus" bill is designed to repair the Democratic Party's power
losses from the 1990s forward, and to cement the party's majority power
for decades."
