Finally, the FBI has figured out that CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) is not an organization it should be dealing with. This “better late than never” bombshell is reported in the Investigative Project on Terrorism story below.
Not only is this wonderful and welcome news that should encourage us that we are in fact seeing progress made in the effort to roll back the tide of Islamofascism. The timing is impeccable.
We have learned that CAIR is planning a lobbying blitz in Congress next week. ACT! for America members, it’s time to take ACTION !!!
STEP ONE:
Send emails and faxes, starting today and continuing through the weekend, to your Member of Congress and two Senators asking that they not meet with CAIR given that the FBI has severed contacts with CAIR. Include the story below in your emails and faxes. (Click here to find contact information for your Member of Congress and Senators).
STEP TWO:
On Monday or Tuesday place a follow-up call to your Member of Congress and two Senators. Ask to speak to their Defense or National Security Legislative Assistant (LA). When you have the LA on the phone, ask (1) if they got your email or fax and the article; (2) if they read it; (3) if the Member of Congress or Senator is aware of the issue. If the LA has not seen or read the email or fax, send it again if necessary.
If you don’t reach the LA, leave a message and phone number, and if you don’t hear back by the next day, call again!

We broke this news yesterday, but wanted to make sure you have the full story - NBC has slammed the door on running our ad during the Super Bowl!
After several days of negotiations, a representative in Chicago told us that NBC and the NFL are not interested in advertisements involving ‘political candidates or issues.’
We were in the midst of raising the money needed, and had confirmed interest from several very generous pro-life benefactors. Airing the ad would have been very expensive, and a 'Super' opportunity.
But NBC’s rejection is calling even more attention to the ad. We have been appearing on radio programs across the country for the past two days, and NBC’s New York affiliate (imagine the irony), is covering the controversy. Bill O’Reilly of the FOX News Channel featured the ad on his program Wednesday night calling it “brilliant” and “genius.” His show alone reached nearly 4 million people.
All of this is driving more traffic to the commercial online. We reached almost 1 million online views in less than two weeks!
So why did NBC reject the ad?
The network claims that they do not allow political or issue advocacy advertisements during the Super Bowl, but that’s simply not true.
The network was willing to air an ad by PETA, which is definitely an advocacy group, if PETA would tone down their ad’s sexual suggestiveness.
Also, the first ad scheduled to run during the Super Bowl is a creative spot about Pedigree’s pet adoption drive. The ad ends with the line: “Help us help dogs.”
In recent years, some Super Bowl advertisements have caused controversy. But there’s nothing objectionable about our positive, life-affirming advertisement. We show a beautiful ultrasound, something NBC’s parent company GE has done for years. We don’t attack Barack Obama, but focus on him becoming the first African-American President. We simply ask people to imagine the potential of each human life.
What now?
We’re not intimidated by NBC. We plan on getting this ad out so that many millions of Americans can imagine the potential of each human life. Here are some things you can do:
1. We are preparing a virtual protest of NBC’s decision. We want other networks to know that hundreds of thousands of people want to see this ad aired, and we will not give up easily. Stay tuned for our plan on this in the next few days.
2. The Catholic television station EWTN will be airing the commercial before, during and after the Super Bowl. Feel free to turn your channel to EWTN during halftime and watch our ad there.
3. You can still share the commercial with friends and family. Tell them to go to CatholicVote.org and watch the ad NBC doesn’t want them to see! Heck, show it at your Super Bowl party!
We’ve been humbled by the donations we’ve received to help get this ad out. We are especially grateful to the group of very generous benefactors that agreed to help if we got air time for the Super Bowl.
We aren’t certain they will still help, but we will use any funds we receive from you and others to air the ad in the most prominent and cost-effective venues available.
Perhaps the ad should run during the Academy Awards or maybe American Idol, which is popular with the youth. Maybe we should run it following President Obama’s first State of the Union address?

The 50A Constitution has been UNCONFLICTED, we hope, with the help of the Constitution Cmte. There is a section that was in conflict that has been re-worded and separated, with two clear choices: part A, and part B--vote for one only!
You get to help choose, and clarify our 50A Constitution at "Convention 2009". Juleigh Perona will be sending this out for you to take a look for yourself, if you ask--it's by email now, to save postage, I believe.
Constitution: One choice to be considered states that the Deputy Chair will become the Chair if the Chair moves, resigns or simply has had enough volunteer work for the time being!
Another choice to be voted upon states that there has to be a mid-term election to elect a new chair if the chair leaves for any reason--and that the deputy chair is not the Chair unless elected to be the Chair at whatever time the Chair decides to leave us. This latter "interpretation" caused some conflict in June 2008, during an election year, when Adam resigned as chair. During election years we need to be united and working on the election of our Novemeber candidates.
Now for the MONEY PART---Do try this--give and get it back.
Please send our House District 50A, $50.00, and let the MN Revenue Dept give it all back to you in three weeks. Send the $50 to Ted Landwehr 763-515-1040, call him first. Socialized Medicne In MN Help to STOP IT!

MN Government planning to STEAL your medical data...to RATION your care!
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) held a public meeting yesterday (1/29) to discuss their timetable for government warehousing and analysis of the medical records data of all Minnesotans for the purpose of centralizing medical decision-making...and limiting your access to care. (see quotes below)
List of your Medical/Insurance/Pharmacy Data that will be sent to Government
They plan to ramrod this plan through...and avoid all public input.
The 2008 health care reform bill negotiated by Governor Pawlenty and House and Senate leadership authorized "expedited rule making" therefore stripping citizens of their right to ask for a public hearing before a judge on this plan to seize the private patient data of every citizen.
Health Department Fails to Inform Citizens
Yesterday they had a public meeting, not a public hearing. The Department chose not to even advertise it to the general public. CCHC has found no press release. This is the ONLY public meeting they plan to have for the public to learn about their plans and provide input. Four members of the public, including CCHC, were in the room yesterday along with about 70 industry and government folks. The four individuals in the room asked many pointed questions about cost and privacy and research that clearly frustrated health department officials...and exposed their lack of knowledge on the cost of this intrusive operation. (see below)

The health department has set a February 6 deadline for hearing from you! CCHC has provided a list of the data that will be sent to the government. Please do the following:

The stated goals according to comments by today's presenters included the following:
* "[We're] looking at care patterns of a provider"
* "We want to know about the entire population the provider is serving"
* "We want to get as complete a picture as possible of a provider's population"
* "[Use for] development and reporting of provider peer groups" based on "cost, quality, value, and efficiency"
* "create a single standard [of "compliance reporting"] that the community agrees on."
* "to look at the quality of care provided...resources used to achieve quality...and price of resources used"
* "Payers are required under statute to use that information" to steer patients toward higher quality, lower cost, more efficient providers [ie. providers that comply with MDH's idea of "evidence-based medicine."]
* "We can look and see if that individual gets the appropriate treatment" [according to the 'series of protocols' they have for certain diseases]
* "We need to count. We need to classify."
* "Gather all medical and pharmaceutical data and track members [patients] across plans"

Command and Control
Your medical records and insurance data will be used to create what they call, "provider peer groups." CCHC prefers to call them "compliance report cards" on every doctor, clinic, and hospital. In 2002, MDH tried to get access to everyone's private medical records through a proposed rule, but the public was outraged, hearings were held, it made front page news, and the proposed rule was withdrawn in 2003. In 2004, MDH tried to get the data through "best practices" legislation, but CCHC petitions forced the legislature to sunset the language in 2006. In 2008, in the final days of session the health care reform law gave them authority to get the data. By law, all insurers are now required to send your private data to MDH, which is using the Maine Health Information Center (MHIC) as their data warehouse contractor.
Patient Privacy Gone
Every time you see the doctor, the data will be sent to the Maine data warehouse. Every medication you take will be reported to Maine. Every diagnosis, every treatment will be cataloged. Every medical charge, every bill you pay will be reported. Your insurance company will have to regularly send a list of all their enrollees to Maine. The data will be released to MHIC under the loosest federal definition of "de-identified." The name of every doctor and the encrypted name of every patient will be sent with every data submission. This "de-identification" process will not likely prevent re-identification of you if MDH wishes to do so.
Clueless on Cost
When asked about cost during the Q&A session, MDH officials did not know the following:
* The cost of the 27 month contract with MHIC [they said they'd send it to CCHC]
* The cost of the health department's administration of the program [they said they'd send it]
* Whether the data collection will save the state any money in health care spending
* How much reporting will cost the entities required to report. They said they didn't even try.

if Congress divided this latest "bailout" among the ~ 245 million licensed drivers (presuming they represent, for the most part, the adults in the country.....mostly legal) each of us would receive a check in excess of $3.34 million dollars...........
Maybe this helps you put the enormity of this crime into perspective!
Correction to above post: 850,000,000,000.00 divided by 245,000,000= $3,469.39 not $3.4 million. Still, money I could use.

The Obama Administration is just gaining its footing in the White House and is just beginning to make changes to policy and issuing statements. It is precisely this time period that contacting the White House is essential and can go a long way toward making a difference.
After writing and re-writing President Obama's statement on gun control many times, he and his team have come out with a revised statement on gun control efforts.
The newly revised statement can be found here:

The statement I'm referring to is under the heading of Crime and Law Enforcement and it can be found about 2/3 of the way down the page.
Here is the paragraph to which I refer:
"Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent."
Now is the time, that we should contact the White directly concerning this statement. On one hand, they say that they respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, but they also say they wish to make the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
They simply cannot have both. The Second Amendment's protections do indeed include semi-automatic carbines, no matter what they look like. Now is the time to contact the White House on this matter.

Obama's (Budget Bill) it is not a stimulus package. This travesty is the largest budget bil in the history of the USA and something like 93% of it is PORK. And only 16% of is to be spent in the next two years. This is nsot a stimulus package. And this is after The Messiah promised to get rid of earmarks!

BELLEVUE, WA – The hysteria-laden reaction from members of her own party to last week’s appointment of New York Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to fill the United States Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton proves that Democrats are still the party of gun control, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.
“Kirsten Gillibrand gets high marks from the ACLU and from the Americans for Democratic Action,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “She supports abortion rights, stem cell research and health care protection for children – all hot button issues for Democrats – but because she supports gun rights, members of her own party have chosen to excoriate her and Gov. David Patterson. Well, so much for being the party of tolerance and inclusion.
“Where does it say that gun owners in New York State should be deprived of a voice in the Senate Democratic Caucus,” Gottlieb wondered. “Gillibrand recently said she believes there can be much common ground between those who protect gun rights and those who believe in gun control. Isn’t that the same thing that the extremists at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence have been claiming? Isn’t that the same philosophy that gun control zealots on Capitol Hill have expressed in the past?
“The difference,” he continued, “is that Gillibrand has a 100-percent rating from the NRA, while too many of her fellow Democrats have made careers out of giving only lip service to the Second Amendment.
“What this controversy really proves,” Gottlieb stated, “is that too many Democrats remain devoted to crushing gun rights, and they will even stoop to attacking and demonizing a rising star of their own party to further their agenda. This is not the party of ‘change’ that so many Americans supported in November. It is apparently a party of narrow views with no tolerance for different opinions, especially if those opinions support the rights of millions of law-abiding American firearms owners.”

We here at the Our Country Deserves Better Committee strongly agree with Rush Limbaugh's recent statements explaining why it is not good for Barack Obama to "succeed" when his policy agenda is that of Big Government liberalism, greater government regulation of your business & family life, liberal social & cultural policies, and a weak foreign policy that sees the U.S. appeasing the United Nations and foreign leaders who don't have America's best interests at heart.

Dear Friends:
Looking forward to the final week of January and really getting down to
business at the Legislature I can’t help being optimistic. I know our
state is facing a large deficit and some pretty tough challenges, but
it’s a chance to do some things right.
Last week we heard Governor Pawlenty’s State of the State Address in
which he highlighted the need to turn our economy around and kick-start
growth again with the creation of new jobs. He said it and I’ll
repeat it; the way to create more jobs in Minnesota is to reduce the tax
burden business owner’s face.
After the Governors speech we met on the floor of the Senate where one
of my colleagues, Senator Geoff Michel, offered an amendment to a bill
that would have eliminated state business taxes gradually over 10 years.
Unfortunately, it failed to pass, but if it had, it would have lit up
the sign for Minnesota saying “Open for Business” and you would have
seen a noticeable response from employers that would have translated
into more “Help Wanted” signs across the state. We’ll keep trying
to offer ideas to help create jobs. We can grow our way out of this
recession and improving the business climate through reducing the tax
burden is how we do it.
I was also glad to see that the inauguration of our new President went
off without a hitch, but I must confide that I am concerned about the
position the new administration may take regarding the sanctity of human
life. The new President has a troubling voting record on protecting
unborn babies.
On Thursday, January 22, thousands of Minnesotans participated in the
annual March for Life at the Capitol. I was proud to be there and
continue to fully support protecting the lives of all Minnesotans,
especially the unborn who cannot speak for themselves.
Finally, I am excited to be presenting an aggravated forgery bill in
the Senate which would clarify the law, making it a felony for anyone
obtaining a job using false or forged forms of identity. This will help
law enforcement when investigating these cases, courts when passing
sentencing and in the end, all Minnesotans by increasing the number of
jobs available for legal residents.

House passes healthcare bill that includes illegal aliens.
Ask the Senate to amend the bill.
The House of Representatives has passed an expanded version of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and made it easier for illegal aliens to access the program's benefits.
HR 2, the new version of SCHIP, weakens verification requirements. Those who enroll will be required to show only an easily forged Social Security card -- not secure documents proving U.S. citizenship. The legislation also extends benefits to non-citizen children of legal immigrants.
The SCHIP bill is designed to provide health coverage to low-income children, a laudable goal, but in these tough economic times, we cannot afford to spend scarce dollars on illegal aliens. That simply means fewer funds will be available for poor Americans.

5-year sentence for Africa-to-U. S. smuggler
WASHINGTON —
A Ghanaian man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to smuggling East African economic refugees into the United States via Latin America.
Mohammed Kamel Ibrahim, 27, was known as "Silk the Shocker" when he lived in Mexico in 2007 operating what U.S. government officials said was a major smuggling pipeline.
The case raised alarms among intelligence officials focused on networks that smuggle people from Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan - known havens for terrorists, including al-Qaida.
In intercepted e-mails, Ibrahim wrote that "getting into the U.S. is no problem at all," and could be done for a price of $5,000.
According to court documents the smugglers had associates in Africa, typically corrupt officials. And they chose their routes based on which transit points employ easily bribed authorities.
Routes have included traveling from East Africa to Johannesburg, South Africa, and from Johannesburg to Sao Paulo, Brazil. East Africans also flew from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Rome to Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela in 2007, according to an intelligence assessment. In addition, the smugglers have access to fake and real Belizean, Bolivian, Chilean, Mexican, Peruvian and South African visas.
In Ibrahim's case, people were stored in luggage compartments of buses for as long as 12 hours and driven to the U.S.-Mexican border. The smugglers escorted clients as they walked across the border into the United States between official entry ports.
East Africans mostly come to the United States to find better lives because of a lack of job opportunities in their home countries.

Dear Friends:
Looking forward to the final week of January and really getting down to
business at the Legislature I can’t help being optimistic. I know our
state is facing a large deficit and some pretty tough challenges, but
it’s a chance to do some things right.
Last week we heard Governor Pawlenty’s State of the State Address in
which he highlighted the need to turn our economy around and kick-start
growth again with the creation of new jobs. He said it and I’ll
repeat it; the way to create more jobs in Minnesota is to reduce the tax
burden business owner’s face.
After the Governors speech we met on the floor of the Senate where one
of my colleagues, Senator Geoff Michel, offered an amendment to a bill
that would have eliminated state business taxes gradually over 10 years.
Unfortunately, it failed to pass, but if it had, it would have lit up
the sign for Minnesota saying “Open for Business” and you would have
seen a noticeable response from employers that would have translated
into more “Help Wanted” signs across the state. We’ll keep trying
to offer ideas to help create jobs. We can grow our way out of this
recession and improving the business climate through reducing the tax
burden is how we do it.
I was also glad to see that the inauguration of our new President went
off without a hitch, but I must confide that I am concerned about the
position the new administration may take regarding the sanctity of human
life. The new President has a troubling voting record on protecting
unborn babies.
On Thursday, January 22, thousands of Minnesotans participated in the
annual March for Life at the Capitol. I was proud to be there and
continue to fully support protecting the lives of all Minnesotans,
especially the unborn who cannot speak for themselves.
Finally, I am excited to be presenting an aggravated forgery bill in
the Senate which would clarify the law, making it a felony for anyone
obtaining a job using false or forged forms of identity. This will help
law enforcement when investigating these cases, courts when passing
sentencing and in the end, all Minnesotans by increasing the number of
jobs available for legal residents.

House passes healthcare bill that includes illegal aliens.
Ask the Senate to amend the bill.
The House of Representatives has passed an expanded version of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and made it easier for illegal aliens to access the program's benefits.
HR 2, the new version of SCHIP, weakens verification requirements. Those who enroll will be required to show only an easily forged Social Security card -- not secure documents proving U.S. citizenship. The legislation also extends benefits to non-citizen children of legal immigrants.
The SCHIP bill is designed to provide health coverage to low-income children, a laudable goal, but in these tough economic times, we cannot afford to spend scarce dollars on illegal aliens. That simply means fewer funds will be available for poor Americans.
ACTION NEEDED

5-year sentence for Africa-to-U. S. smuggler
WASHINGTON —
A Ghanaian man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to smuggling East African economic refugees into the United States via Latin America.
Mohammed Kamel Ibrahim, 27, was known as "Silk the Shocker" when he lived in Mexico in 2007 operating what U.S. government officials said was a major smuggling pipeline.
The case raised alarms among intelligence officials focused on networks that smuggle people from Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan - known havens for terrorists, including al-Qaida.
In intercepted e-mails, Ibrahim wrote that "getting into the U.S. is no problem at all," and could be done for a price of $5,000.
According to court documents the smugglers had associates in Africa, typically corrupt officials. And they chose their routes based on which transit points employ easily bribed authorities.
Routes have included traveling from East Africa to Johannesburg, South Africa, and from Johannesburg to Sao Paulo, Brazil. East Africans also flew from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Rome to Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela in 2007, according to an intelligence assessment. In addition, the smugglers have access to fake and real Belizean, Bolivian, Chilean, Mexican, Peruvian and South African visas.
In Ibrahim's case, people were stored in luggage compartments of buses for as long as 12 hours and driven to the U.S.-Mexican border. The smugglers escorted clients as they walked across the border into the United States between official entry ports.
East Africans mostly come to the United States to find better lives because of a lack of job opportunities in their home countries.

The fact is that at the outset of the Bush Administration, the former president attended a Democrat retreat as a show of goodwill and to try to set the tone for bipartisanship in Washington. President Obama, on the other hand, is showing his "bipartisanship" with his own version of "it's my way or the highway" attitude.
As noted in a recent Fox News story, Obama told GOP leaders at a meeting that "you can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done."
In other words, in order to "get things done," Republicans need to see things Obama's way. So much for tolerance of ideas."

When the state legislature convened on January 6, Minnesotans were told the state was facing a $4.8 billion budget shortfall. But just one week later, Minnesota's chief Economist Tom Stinson painted an even grimmer picture. He estimates the budget shortfall will grow to whopping $6.1 billion and that Minnesota will likely be facing a major recession with unemployment topping 10%.
The state of Minnesota doesn't have a revenue problem. The problem is out-of-control spending and unsustainable growth in government. If spending increases had been limited to the rate of inflation over the past five years, the state would be sitting on a sizable budget surplus. But state spending increased over $8 billion, or 29% since just 2004.
Minnesota Majority has recently helped form a coalition of non-profit organizations seeking state budget solutions without raising taxes. The Coalition for Fiscal Responsibility in Government is seeking your ideas and feedback on proposals to balance the state's budget without putting more tax burdens on families and businesses in these difficult economic times. The coalition is gathering proposals from policy experts and ordinary taxpayers in an effort to begin a constructive dialogue to on real budget solutions. To that end, a new website has been launched at MinnesotaBudgetSolutions.com where individuals can learn more about Minnesota's budget crisis and help identify opportunities to restructure state spending, critique and comment on existing proposals.

President Obama has reiterated his support for an amnesty for illegal aliens. DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so
That her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an
Airplane!)
2. I got a call from a candidate's staffer who wanted to go to
Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the
Passport information. Then she interrupted me with, 'I'm not trying
To make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts'. Without
Trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, 'Cape Cod' is in
Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa. Her response, "click".
3. A senior Vermont Congressman called, furious about a Florida
Package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in
Orlando . He said he was expecting an oceanview room. I tried to
Explain that's not possible, because Orlando is in the middle of the
State. He replied, 'Don't get smart with me, I looked on the map
And Florida is a very narrow state!' (Oh, my!)
4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife who asked, 'Is it

'But they look so close on the map.'
5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he

7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, 'Do airlines put your
Physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs
To whom?' I said, 'No. Why do you ask?' She replied, 'Well, when I
Checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said
FAT, and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude. After putting her
On hold for a minute while I looked into it--I was laughing--, I
Came back and explained that the code for the Fresno, CA airport, is
"FAT" = Fresno Air Terminal, and the airline was just putting a
Destination tag on her luggage.

Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, 'Would it be

Exactly he meant, to which he replied, 'I was told my flight number
Is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.'
10. A lady Senator called and said, 'I need to fly to
Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little
Computer planes?' I asked if she meant she was flying to Pensacola,
FL on a commuter plane. She said, 'Yeah, whatever, smarty!'
11. A senior Senator called and had a question about the
Documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy
Discussion about passports, I reminded him that he also needed a
Visa. 'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and I have
Never had to have one of those.' I double-checked, and sure enough,
His stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, 'Look, I've
Been to China four times and every time they have accepted my
American Express!'
12. A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations, 'I
Want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York.' I was at a loss for
Words. Finally, I said, 'Are you sure that's the name of the town?'
''Yes, what flights do you have?" replied the lady. After some
Searching, I came back with, 'I'm sorry, ma'am, I've looked up
Every airport code in the country and can't find a Rhino anywhere.'
The lady retorted, 'Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it
is. Check your map!' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and
finally offered, 'You don't mean Buffalo, do you?' The reply?
"Whatever! I knew it was a big animal."
Now you know why our Government is in the shape that it is in,

Remember Richard Reid, the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe
and tried to light it?
Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV/Radio?
Didn't think so.
Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.
Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.
His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record,
Reid also admitted his "allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah," defiantly stated "I think I will not apologize for my actions," and told the court "I am at war with your country."
Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid. Judge Young:
"Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.
On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutive with the other.
That's 80 years. On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years consecutive to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 for the aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines. The Court imposes upon you the $800 special assessment.
The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further. This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence.
Let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is all too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.
You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether it is the officers of government who do it or your attorney who does it, or if you think you are a soldier. You are not----- you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've know warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and where the TV crews were, and he said: "You're no big deal."
You are no big deal.
What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?
I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing. And I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.
It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf and have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bare any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. Day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure. Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America, the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.
See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.
Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.
So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets?
We need more judges like Judge Young, but that's another subject. Pass this around. Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say. Powerful words that strike home.

Below you will find an excellent piece by our friend Patrick Poole which addresses a fundamental problem we repeatedly point out – that far too many in our government are either ignorant of, in denial of, or disingenuous about the underlying threat doctrine that drives Islamic terrorism worldwide.
This sentence is particularly alarming:
“Two weeks ago, Ricks [1] reported on a new [2] publication by Army War College research professor Sherifa Zuhur on Hamas and Israel that informs readers that Hamas has been misunderstood due to the misreporting by ‘Israeli and Western sources that villainize the group.’”
So, according to Zuhur, the Hamas organization that is caught on video brainwashing children to hate Israel and kill Jews, training children to be terrorists, and using children as human shields, is not really so bad, but has been “misunderstood” because of reporting that “villianizes” the organization.
Remarkable.
As we have noted many times before, one reason it is essential that we build a formidable grassroots citizen action network is that we must have the “bottom up” strength to successfully push for government policies that truly understand the nature of the threat we face and take the necessary actions to combat it.
We know there are many people throughout the government who share our concerns about political correctness run amok. But when the Army War College publishes a report with absurd claims like Zuhur’s, it should be eminently clear to us that the voices of political correctness are overpowering the voices of sanity and reason.
One action you can take today, if you haven’t already done so, is to sign our petition calling for a UN investigation of Hamas.
