Rally to take back north Minneapolis on Saturday, May 2, 2009 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Join the north Minneapolis community and the North Minneapolis Ethics Committee for a rally on Saturday, May 2, 2009 titled, “Take Back North Minneapolis – Call to Action!” This event will be held at Sunny Side Deli and Elite Catering located at 1720 Glenwood Avenue North on the corners of Glenwood and Morgan Avenues North.
This is the communities “Tea Party,” a place to voice concerns about the lack of economic development and opportunities that affect all people that live in north Minneapolis. All citizens of the Twin Cities are invited to stop in and buy breakfast (supporting Black business) and talk about possible solutions to addressing the ongoing alleged corruption in local non-profits and to also sign the petition that will be forwarded to local agencies in an attempt to take this movement forward and hold social service agencies accountable to the community.
The petition we have will be sent to the National Urban League Board of Directors and the Board of the Stairstep Foundation to include the Internal Revenue Service and the Minnesota Secretary of State is asking for an immediate Audit of the above agencies as it pertains to funding in relations to the agencies programming and community engagement.
We attest that funding has not been applied in accordance with programming or missions as it pertains to north Minneapolis social service agencies indicated in this message. We also ask for an immediate halt on funding to these agencies by the United Way, General Mills, the McKnight Foundation and other philanthropic entities that currently provide general operation funding and program funds.
