Dear GOPUSA Activists,

Google -- the multi-billion dollar Internet giant -- wants Congress to spend more than $4 trillion in U.S. taxpayer money on experimental alternative fuels.

You read that right.

Google apparently believes it is now America's leading expert on energy!

Why is Google calling on the United States government to spend $4.4 trillion (that's trillion with a "T", six times as much as is being spent on the bailout) of our hard-earned tax dollars to subsidize renewable energy during these hard economic times?

If they have their way, much of that $4.4 trillion will go directly to subsidize their bottom line. This, with no guarantee that Google's plan will help solve America's energy crisis.

CONTACT YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TODAY!
Send a free e-mail telling them that you don't want your tax dollars subsidizing Google's business plan.

You see, Google just announced plans for the development of a new electricity grid. And, to advance its interests, Google is conveniently playing on the fears of the American people by suggesting the U.S. abandon all fossil fuels by 2030. A noble goal, indeed. But highly implausible!

The truth is that the U.S. needs an all-of-the-above approach to address the energy crisis. But the reality is that no one source, or few sources, of power can totally replace the fossil fuels on which our nation's economy and the American people rely.

For example, coal currently accounts for about half of our nation's electricity. The renewable energy sources Google is touting -- wind and solar -- generate only a tiny percentage of the energy our nation consumes.

LET CONGRESS KNOW that taxpayers cannot afford to bear additional financial burden while padding the pockets of Google executives.

Gas prices are finally starting to drop as demand has decreased. Congress had the good sense to let its ban on offshore drilling expire. We're finally making some progress on energy. But the Google plan will, frankly, bankrupt the nation.

If wind, solar and other renewable fuels grew by 20 percent a year for the next 22 years (that's a growth rate that would put even Google in the shade) they would still meet only 5% of the world's total energy needs.

Google is just the latest in a line of corporate rent-seekers who want the American taxpayers to subsidize their businesses. If Google wants to spend their own money, that's their business. But they should not be looking to the American taxpayers to foot the bill.

TELL YOUR Members of Congress and other key Administration and Congressional leaders that Google can finance all the renewable-energy power plants
it wants, but it has no right to use taxpayer dollars for its own gain.

Send a free personalized e-mail NOW! Tell your Members of Congress, and other Administration and Congressional leaders, that you want federal energy strategies that put the American people first, not the business interests of Internet billionaires like Google.

CONTACT CONGRESS NOW!

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Mazzella
