The Future of Our Schools: Closing the Achievement Gap
Featuring the following honored guest:
Mr. Carl Harris –
Carl Harris serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Policy &
Strategic Initiatives of Elementary and Secondary Education
in the U.S. Department of Education.
Mr. Harris has taken an active role in the Race to the Top
initiative proposed by President Obama. Since 2006,
Mr. Harris had served as superintendent of schools
in Durham, N.C. and in Franklin County, N.C.
In 2009 he was honored with the Central Carolina
Regional Superintendent of the Year award.
He earned his Ph.D. in Education Administration from
North Carolina State University.
