TO OBAMA: WIMPS DON’T WIN

Moving to the center is not a two-dimensional process. It has a third dimension — the difference between strength and weakness. In the course of coming in from the cold of his extreme far-left positions, the president looks like a wimp, abandoning his long-held views in the face of electoral defeats, adverse court rulings, recalcitrant Democrats and strong, united Republican opposition.
And wimps don’t win.

When Bill Clinton moved to the center, he arrived in triumph. After vanquishing the Republican Congress during the government shutdown of 1995-96, he agreed to a balanced-budget deal with Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott. But it was his deal, along his lines, on his principles. When he signed a welfare reform bill, he did so after beating back and vetoing two Republican bills that coupled reform with harsh cuts to Medicaid. After he got a bill on his own terms, he signed it.
Barack Obama’s “compromise” with the Republicans over the Bush tax cuts is no more of a compromise than was the deal Emperor Hirohito cut with Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the deck of the battleship Missouri after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was a surrender, not a compromise. It was submission, not triangulation.
Obama is checkmated as long as Republicans hold firm, challenge him on solid grounds anchored in public opinion and remain united. He can either lose the election of 2012 because he is an obstinate ideologue who won’t compromise and won’t abandon his socialist principles or he can lose it because he does surrender and is too weak to be president.
He does not have a third option — winning the budget fights and winning reelection — as long as the Republicans properly mount their challenge, because public opinion, the essential element for victory, is not with him.
- Americans want spending cuts, not tax increases
- Americans believe that cutting spending is more important even than cutting the deficit (see Rasmussen)
- Americans oppose ObamaCare
- Americans are against letting the Environmental Protection Agency impose carbon dioxide restrictions without consulting Congress.
- Americans are against unilateral National Labor Relations Board action to eliminate the secret ballot in union elections.
- Americans oppose earmarks
- Americans do not want the Federal Communications Commission to limit or censor talk radio.
These are the grounds for our battles in 2011-2012. It is on this turf that the Republican House majority must fight. The fearful “moderate” Democratic senators will cave in. And then Obama will be forced to surrender because the Force — public opinion — is not with him. You can govern by ignoring what Americans think if you have a majority. But not if you don’t.
And with each surrender — over his desire to raise the debt limit without mandated spending cuts, over his support for bailing out states in trouble, and over his demand to raise taxes in the 2012 budget — Obama will get weaker and weaker.
His inability to fight and win the war on terror and his choice to become mired in Afghanistan with no real plan for winning will contribute to the image of weakness.
In 2012, he will face America denuded of all the programs he passed in 2009-2010, with an economy only slightly improved but with at least 7-8 percent unemployment, and with a manifest inability to measure up to the job of president.
Most presidents face a challenge of weakness. With Eisenhower, it was his refusal to stand up to Joe McCarthy. With Kennedy, it was his inability to pass legislation. With Nixon, it was his inability to get ahead of the Watergate scandal. With Ford, it was his helplessness in the face of inflation. With Carter, it was the hostage crisis. With Reagan, it was his failure to control the Iran-Contra affair. With Bush-41, it was his passivity on the economy. With Clinton, it was the flip-flopping early in h is presidency. With Obama, it will be his retreat in the face of the Republican counterattack of 2011.

Tuesday, November 2, we have a right and duty to exercise our right to vote. It is important that we educate ourselves with how our candidates stand. But even beyond that, we need to realize that we are responsible for our representatives and their actions. If they make good decisions we need to praise them, if they make poor decisions, we need to hold them accountable. We cannot elect our representatives and think they can read our minds and that they will represent us in every decision. We need to keep them accountable at all times. If they ignore us, we need to ignore them at the poll by voting for their opponent.
The October 20th edition of the Northeaster has probably one of the best comprehensive voter’s guide for our area but unfortunately it is not available online. Dig it out of the recycle bin and check it out.
The polls are open from 7:00 a.m until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The battle over the role of Islam in a Minnesota public school is heating up again in a federal courtroom in St. Paul. The conflict began in January 2009, when the ACLU of Minnesota sued Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy -- a K-8 charter school with campuses in Inver Grove Heights and Blaine -- for violating constitutional prohibitions against government endorsement of religion.
TiZA since has fought tooth and nail -- erecting procedural barriers to prevent the ACLU from investigating what goes on behind its doors. The school's tactics have gone far beyond the usual rough-and-tumble of lawyers in our adversary system. Its chief tool has been attempted intimidation of all who would draw back the curtain on its secrets.
One of TiZA's first targets was the ACLU itself. A few months after the suit began, the school filed a $100,000-plus defamation claim, citing ACLU executive director Chuck Samuelson's simple statement that "[TiZA is] a theocratic school ... as plain as the substantial nose on my face." The court dismissed the claim.
In January 2010, the ACLU was back in court to seek a protective order, on grounds that intimidation by TiZA was discouraging potential witnesses from appearing. The ACLU filed affidavits by a former TiZA parent and a former TiZA staff member, who described what they interpreted as threats of violence against them. In her affidavit, the female staff member said that Asad Zaman -- TiZA's executive director -- had suggested after she displeased him: "We could just kill you, yeah tell your husband we'll do his job for him." (Zaman has no recollection of making such a statement, he said in an affidavit.) The court barred witness harassment or intimidation by either party.
In June 2010, the ACLU returned to court to quash what it described as yet another TiZA attempt to intimidate current and former employees from speaking about what they had seen at the public school. TiZA's "Staff Handbooks include a secrecy clause, and related threat of legal action for violating it," according to the ACLU's court filings. TiZA "wields [these provisions] as a sledgehammer to keep former employees quiet about what they saw at the school." As a result, "former TiZA employees have expressed fear about speaking to the ACLU."
According to the ACLU, TiZA's refusal to agree not to enforce the secrecy clause "sends the ominous signal that current and former employees who talk to the ACLU may be forced to defend themselves against a baseless, expensive lawsuit."
On Oct. 1, Judge Donovan Frank agreed -- affirming an order the ACLU had earlier won barring TiZA from enforcing the confidentiality clause in the context of this litigation.
The court's order and memorandum spoke volumes: "It appears that information related to TiZA's business, finances, operations and office procedures is public data and cannot be kept secret." "The relevant question ... is why TiZA, a public charter school, does not want to allow its former and current employees to participate in the informal discovery process to ascertain the truth about how TiZA operates."
The court's strong language in response to TiZA's actions was unusual: "[I]ntimidation and threats will not sit well with a fact-finder such as a jury." As a result of the school's actions, "[T]he Court may be required to draw adverse inferences about how TiZA operates as a result of TiZA's efforts to keep information about its operations secret. ... [TiZA's] behavior during the discovery process thus far ... has not been consistent with a good faith search for the truth."
The ACLU has characterized TiZA's recent actions regarding the secrecy clause as "only the last in a long line of intimidation efforts." Not quite. Last month, an attack was launched from a different front.
Several organizations that are not even parties to the lawsuit went to court in an attempt to disqualify the ACLU's lawyers -- Dorsey & Whitney -- from representing the ACLU on grounds that Dorsey personnel had previously communicated with Zaman about entities involved in the litigation. The organizations include the Muslim American Society of Minnesota (MAS-MN), MAS-MN Property Holding Corporation and the Minnesota Education Trust (MET).
What might they fear? Perhaps that Dorsey lawyers are in a position to prove that the scandal thus far -- and Zaman's role in it -- is just the tip of the iceberg. Dorsey lawyers had this to say in a Sept. 10 letter filed with the court:
"The ACLU believes Mr. Zaman's testimony relating to control of virtually every significant event at TiZA, MAS-MN, MET and MET's subsidiaries, coupled with his efforts to hide such control, constitute powerful evidence against TiZA's denials that it is a Muslim school and that it funnels state and federal money to other Muslim organizations."
Every time we read about this lawsuit, we have to pinch ourselves and say: We're talking about a public, taxpayer-funded school.

I was born a Muslim and lived all my life as a follower of Islam.
After the barbaric terrorist attacks done by the hands of my fellow Muslims everywhere on this globe, and after the too many violent acts by Islamists in many parts of the world, I feel responsible as a Muslim and as a human being, to speak out and tell the truth to protect the world and Muslims as well from a coming catastrophe and war of civilizations.
I have to admit that our current Islamic teaching creates violence and hatred toward Non-Muslims. We Muslims are the ones who need to change. Until now we have accepted polygamy, the beating of women by men, and killing those who convert from Islam to other religions.
We have never had a clear and strong stand against the concept of slavery or wars, to spread our religion and to subjugate others to Islam and force them to pay a humiliating tax called Jizia. We ask others to respect our religion while all the time we curse non-Muslims loudly (in Arabic) in our Friday prayers in the Mosques.
What message do we convey to our children when we call the Jews "Descendants of the pigs and monkeys".. Is this a message of love and peace, or a message of hate?
I have been into churches and synagogues where they were praying for Muslims. While all the time we curse them, and teach our generations to call them infidels, and to hate them.
We immediately jump in a 'knee jerk reflex' to defend Prophet Mohammad when someone accuses him of being a pedophile while, at the same time, we are proud with the story in our Islamic books, that he married a young girl seven years old (Aisha) when he was above 50 years old.
I am sad to say that many, if not most of us, rejoiced in happiness after September 11th and after many other terror attacks.
Muslims denounce these attacks to look good in front of the media, but we condone the Islamic terrorists and sympathise with their cause. Till now our 'reputable' top religious authorities have never issued a Fatwa or religious statement to proclaim Bin Laden as an apostate, while an author, like Rushdie, was declared an apostate who should be killed according to Islamic Shariia law just for writing a book criticizing Islam.
Muslims demonstrated to get more religious rights as we did in France to stop the ban on the Hejab (Head Scarf), while we did not demonstrate with such passion and in such numbers against the terrorist murders.
It is our absolute silence against the terrorists that gives the energy to these terrorists to continue doing their evil acts. We Muslims need to stop blaming our problems on others or on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. As a matter of honesty, Israel is the only light of democracy, civilization, and human rights in the whole Middle East .
We kicked out the Jews with no compensation or mercy from most of the Arab countries to make them "Jews-Free countries" while Israel accepted more than a million Arabs to live there, have its nationality, and enjoy their rights as human beings. In Israel , women can not be beaten legally by men, and any person can change his/her belief system with no fear of being killed by the Islamic law of 'Apostasy,' while in our Islamic world people do not enjoy any of these rights. I agree that the 'Palestinians' suffer, but they suffer because of their corrupt leaders and not because of Israel .
It is not common to see Arabs who live in Israel leaving to live in the Arab world. On the other hand, we used to see thousands of Palestinians going to work with happiness in Israel , its 'enemy'. If Israel treats Arabs badly as some people claim, surely we would have seen the opposite happening.
We Muslims need to admit our problems and face them. Only then we can treat them and start a new era to live in harmony with human mankind. Our religious leaders have to show a clear and very strong stand against polygamy, pedophilia,slavery, killing those who convert from Islam to other religions, beating of women by men, and declaring wars on non-Muslims to spread Islam.
Then, and only then, do we have the right to ask others to respect our religion. The time has come to stop our hypocrisy and say it openly: 'We Muslims have to Change'.

Otto Hires Al Franken's Lawyer to Defend Her
At 3pm today, Judge Haydinger ruled against Rebecca Otto and her campaign, sending the violations of the Fair Campaign Practices Act to a full-blown hearing beginning later this week. And in a desperate move, Rebecca Otto hired Franken's trial lawyer, David Lillehaug, to defend her.
Despite legal maneuvers and arguments by Otto and Lillehaug, Pat has won the first round! But Pat needs your financial help and support to continue to fight Otto and Al Franken's attorney.
As you know, last week Pat was finally forced to file a formal complaint with the Office of Administrative Hearings. This was a last resort when Otto refused repeated requests to stop making false statements about Pat's record and well earned reputation as state auditor. Otto had been regularly sending out false information in an attempt to hide her own dismal record.
Since the complaint, Otto has been frantic. First, she denied and downplayed the charges, next she changed her web site to look like she never said the things that were false, finally she took the changes themselves down in an attempt to pretend like it never existed. And then on Friday, she ran out and hired the biggest Democrat gunslinger around: David Lillehaug. He was Clinton's U.S. Attorney and was Franken's trial lawyer during the Coleman - Franken recount.
This time Otto has gone too far. Pat has a great opportunity to expose Otto's false statements and Otto's undignified campaign. Pat is not afraid to go up against Franken's trial lawyer and the DFL Machine, but it isn't easy and requires resources.

Obama knows Barbara Boxer and his agenda are in danger

A new Field Poll was released Friday that shows Barbara Boxer continues to be vulnerable and can be defeated. Though she currently is leading in the polls as a result of spending an incredible amount of money on vicious attacks on me, she has not been able to increase her favorability rating among voters. Despite the millions of dollars she's spent to draw attention away from her record of failure, 47% of voters still disapprove of the job she is doing. So it's up to you and me to get these men and women to cast their votes in favor of new representation in Washington.

Media : Pat Anderson's Service As Auditor Was Very Good
This is an email blast sent out by the Pat Anderson Campaign.
Love 'em or hate 'em, the media plays a big role in campaigns. They decide what news to cover, having the ability to frame the issues that are important to the voters. They also serve as a balance to the rhetoric coming from the campaigns by "fact-checking" claims made by candidates. It's an imperfect system but one which is necessary in an informed democracy.
Over the final six weeks of the election season, accusations tend to fly as campaigns make that final push for votes. It's the worse time in politics. Losing campaigns tend to resort to exaggerations, name calling and sometimes bold-faced lies. That is the exact behavior we expect from State Auditor Rebecca Otto; false claims and an attempt to muddle Pat's record of excellent performance. Otto's done it before - in both her legislative race and her 2006 race for auditor. In fact, she was indicted by a grand jury for false campaign practices in 2004. Not a good thing for someone in a position which requires honesty, integrity and transparency.
So here are the facts from perhaps the most informed sources out there. Back in 2006, Pat was endorsed by every major newspaper in the state. The Pioneer Press had this to say about Pat's service: "Anderson's office has achieved a high batting average of competence and integrity. ... Her office has tackled tax-increment financing and pension reform with innovation, held TIF seminars all over the state and begun measuring the standards of its own work under a "best practices" model. ... We endorse her return to office."
The Duluth News Tribune said "Good news or bad, Anderson can be relied on to deliver the numbers."
The Star Tribune commented in their endorsement of Pat that "...Anderson seems to be doing the public's work rather well...an overall performance record and management skills that some reliable, neutral observers rate as quite good .."
And other papers like the West Central Tribune said, "With a master's in public administration, she has run an aggressive office, serving as a fiscal watchdog of the state's 4,223 local units of government. Anderson should be re-elected as State Auditor."
We lay that against Otto's self-described record of "Getting no respect." Perhaps it's because she claims her biggest accomplishments in four years were a "telecommuting policy and bigger computer screens". Oh - and she has recently added to that. Her crowning achievement is now a staff report on how to better insulate government buildings.
