New Sites to Track Congress bills before they become law

I have added a new site link to the 50A blog. It is a site created to track or follow a bill's life cycle through the process of being rejected or becoming law. Go to the "latest section" here on the blog and click. You can search for the latest info on say The bailout bill maybe or HR2755,. If you know the bill number you can find it. It is called Gov Track and you can check it out at http://www.govtrack.us/ Another one is: No Sales Tax Increase created in opposition to the proposed 11 billion dollar sales tax increase proposed by the slave-mongering leftists in St.Paul. You must vote no on this tax increase if you want to stop the onslaught. go to: http://nosalestaxincrease.org/ to help. Go to the "latest section" to the right and click. Thanks All Laura is working very hard on communications. So soon we will be able to reach everyone that wants to be in the loop politically. I will be sending out an email blast as soon as we get all set up. Thanks for your patience, we have basically had to build from the ground up here in 50A. A little history: Maybe up to 25 years ago Repubs in 50A had a robust organization. Then for some reason I don't know why, it went away. Maybe the old guard just got too old and there was no one to replace them. We are building a new bulwark for the Constitutional here in 50A. We don't have all the answers yet and maybe never will, but we are working and would like everyone that believes in liberty and rejects slavery to join us. You can leave a comment, as more people are starting to do, Get a yard sign, donate to our local candidates, make phone calls etc. You can go right to the top and email or call Rae. Go Get 'em LL

Quote by Theodore Roosevelt

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

An Article from Europe news: Islam is a Violent "Faith" by Dr. Sami Airabaa

exerpt from the article:

Violence, Hatred, and Discrimination in the Koran

If you say that Islam is a violent faith, you are accused of being anti-Islam and you are propagating “Islamophobia”.

There are more than one billion Muslims around the world, and I’m
one of them. We are told that the Koran is the “word of God”. When you
read the Koran, however, - which over 90% of all Muslims have never
read, according to a survey by Bielefeld University in Germany, and if
they ever do, either they do not understand its archaic language, or
they do not ponder on what it says - you find out that it is full of
passages that incite to hatred, killing, and discriminate against
women.

Letter from Senator Coleman re e-verify, Get A Donna Schmitt Yard Sign, Meeting 29th,Help

Dear Mr. Leftfoot Leeds

Thank you for taking the time to contact me with your support for extending the E-Verify program. I believe that this program is an important tool for employers committed to maintaining a legal workforce. While improvements must be made to improve E-Verify's accuracy, I believe the program should be extended.

U.S. employers have long been prohibited from knowingly hiring, recruiting or employing a person who is not authorized to work. However, the current system, which requires employers to verify employment eligibility documents presented to them, has demonstrated a weakness to fraud. To address this concern, in 1996, Congress created a program called Basic Pilot to allow interested employers to electronically verify new hires' employment eligibility. This program has expanded into what is now known as E-Verify.

E-Verify is now used by more than 69,000 employers, and the number is rapidly growing. It is projected that the E-Verify system will run more than 6 million inquiries in 2008. The current law that authorizes E-Verify expires in November 2008. While E-Verify is not without its problems, I believe it is in the country's best interest to continue this program.

There have been multiple bills introduced (i.e. S. 3093 and S. 3257) to extend and make changes to the program, but no floor debate has yet occurred. You may be interested to know that the House passed the Employee Verification Amendment Act of 2008 (H.R. 6633) on July 31, 2008.

I am also a cosponsor of legislation (S. 699) introduced by Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) that would address one of the biggest shortcomings of E-Verify. This legislation would change current law by allowing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to compare the name and social security number with those in the Social Security Administration database. This would curb identity theft and immigration fraud by informing DHS when there are multiple hits on the same Social Security Number.

I look forward to finding a way to effectively reauthorize and improve E-Verify. Please know that as this process moves forward, I will keep your thoughts in mind.

Thank you once again for contacting me. I value your advice. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of further assistance to you.

Sincerely,
Norm Coleman

I am looking for spots to place signs.  If anyone doesn't have a sign and would like one, please let me know by emailing or calling me with your address and phone number.  I know there are some people that asked for signs and I forgot to write them down.   If you are willing to ask you neighbors, that would be great.  Corner locations are wonderful!  Homes near polling places are wonderful!  I have 75 signs looking for homes!  Remember, the city council race is supposed to be a non-partisan race so I will even put one next to an Obama sign.

Dear Members
Please forward both items

Thanks to Our good Friend Robin for this report
U N B E L I E V A B L E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just yesterday I sent to you the article by Michelle Malkin explaining
illegal aliens (largest portion primarily from Mexico) involvement in the
Housing subprime mess and who do you think was the guest today
at the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange
Mexico's President - Calderon

Who is in Washington - Mickey Mouse?

Whether or not Calderon should have ever be invited to the opening is a
discussion in itself. But, while Americans have no idea what our financial
futures hold and talk of trillions of debt at taxpayer expense
was the invite to the President of a Country that promotes his
people to abandon their Country and invade another - REALLY APPROPRIATE?

Answer: NO!
This is another slap in the face to all Americans who have voiced opposition
to this invasion and is yet another action on the part of our leaders to say
WE DO NOT CARE
Americans - please educate all you can - we must turn up the heat
Apparently they are not hearing us - or simply do not care and if the later
is the case - it is time to remind them who they work for
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
We must be heard and vote those who do not put Americans interests first - OUT!

This is irritating and blatantly disgusting

Senate Wants to Punt on E-Verify
Two Days Left to Demand a 5 Year E-Verify Reauthorization
September 24, 2008
E-Verify is in true jeopardy right now and unless your Senators act now we are in jeopardy of losing the basic tool that helps companies determine worker's eligibility and weed out illegal aliens!
Our sources on Capitol Hill tell us that instead of responsibly reauthorizing E-Verify for the necessary full five-year term, Senators are going to pander to special interests and the Senate will only extend E-Verify for six months in a continuing resolution (CR).  A CR is a stop-gap spending measure meant to keep the government from shutting down after Congress adjourns since Congress failed to pass any spending bills this session.
We understand that this agreement was meant to appease cheap labor business interests who want to kill E-Verify — especially in the states that have made it mandatory for their employers.  But, because they know that the American people would not stand for Congress to kill E-Verify right before an election, they have decided to punt this political football through the next election and into the next Congress where they feel they will be in a much better position to kill it or use it as a bargaining chip in a large amnesty measure.
It is outrageous that in this turbulent economy, the Senate would bow to the cheap foreign interests and eliminate one of our most effective, efficient and accurate work-site enforcement tools designed to keep illegal aliens from displacing American workers.
Please understand that when you call, Senate offices will try to tell you that E-Verify will be on the floor this week.  But what they are really talking about is their attempt to shove E-Verify into the CR with a six month only extension.  We need to let them know that this is unacceptable and that E-Verify must be brought to the floor as a stand-alone bill and reauthorized for a full five year term.
Action Items:
Call your individual Senators (202-224-3121) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office today (202-224-3542) and tell them to bring H.R. 6633, the House bill that authorizes E-Verify for five years, to the Senate floor.

Should a local newspaper journalist be so skewed?

Dear Steve Brandt and the Editors of the Star Tribune Newspaper, (Minneapolis)

We stand in opposition against a giant that has lost his shadow. Keith Ellison may have gripped the voters of Minnesota during the last election, but surveys show that the people of Minnesota are asking for a different choice in Congress. Barb Davis White stands, not in opposition of the Democratic Party, but with the people of the 5th Congressional District. Her beliefs are simple and clear. I understand that you are thoroughly entrenched in Ellison, but the predominate word during this election season is 'change'.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for being one of nearly 150,000 Americans to sign up with PGPF in support of fiscal responsibility. Just recently, almost 10,000 of you added your names to our letter in the New York Times calling for our presidential candidates to show leadership in tackling the great fiscal challenges that threaten America's economic well-being.

In the past week, the stakes have only risen higher! As the US government seeks to dig Wall Street out of its hole, we need to make sure that Washington learns lessons and implements safeguards to keep from falling into the same kind of hole - only deeper.

"The US government truly is too big to fail," writes PGPF President and CEO Dave Walker in this morning's Financial Times. "However, there are disturbing parallels between the factors that led to the sub-prime crisis and the deteriorating financial condition and fiscal foundation of our federal government. These similarities ought to ring an alarm bell for Congress and the presidential candidates. The question is, will they hear it and wake up?" To read Dave's entire op-ed, click here.

Meanwhile, PGPF Vice President Gene Steuerle spotlights the three major reforms needed to modernize Social Security, a program whose features were largely "designed around a view of the economy and the family that is at least three-quarters of a century old." The three necessary reforms:

1) "better poverty reduction" to improve the quality of life for the poor and very poor;

2) "less discouragement of work" to keep Americans in the workforce longer, boosting the program's revenues and as a result, its benefits; and,

3) "fairer treatment of the family" to tackle how the system discriminates among beneficiaries, especially in light of growing trends over the past 75 years of single parenthood, divorce, and adults having children later in life. To read Gene's column, click here.

Lastly, we've been floored by the number of requests we've received from colleges, universities, and other educational institutions around the country to host screenings of I.O.U.S.A. The nonpartisan feature documentary - Roger Ebert gave it three and a half stars! - tells the story of America's four key deficits: budget, savings, trade, and leadership. Click here to check out the growing list of special screenings scheduled to take place around the country, and e-mail press@pgpf.org to inquire about scheduling your own!

As recent events are proving, it's only getting MORE important that we demand fiscal responsibility from Washington. Please keep up the fight and spread the word by forwarding this e-mail to your friends.

All the best,
The team at PGPF

Move America Forward PAC

Dear Supporter of our Troops:

It is hard to believe how anti-war the United States Congress has become. Just this last week the Senate blocked a vote on a bipartisan resolution that thanks our troops for the "strategic success of the troop surge in Iraq."
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin got together to block the vote. They refuse to say thank you to the men and women of our military who have heroically fought in Iraq and brought us from near defeat to almost certain victory.

Why? How could these Senators be so irresponsible? The Senate Leader, Harry Reid, of course is the one who said the war in Iraq was lost. He was right there along with Barack Obama. At least Obama has come around enough under pressure to admit some success. But, these politicians in Washington refuse to admit they were wrong!

Regardless of who is elected President, and hopefully McCain-Palin will win, we have to change the composition of the House of Representatives and the Senate. We need a Congress that will forcefully support our troops and the war on terrorism.

That is why we started MAF Freedom PAC: to elect a Congress that will stand up and support our troops and their mission to destroy Islamic terrorism wherever we find it threatening American interests.

Please contribute to MAF Freedom PAC so we can get a Congress we can be proud of:

https://www.completecampaigns.com/FR/contribute.asp?campaignid=MAFFreedom

You just saw in the news about the $9 million that was raised in Hollywood for the Obama campaign. With events like that one, the liberal, "Blame America First" crowd is beating us in raising money.

I don't know if you noticed it, but Jodie Evans of Code Pink was one of the contributors at the Obama fundraiser. This is the person that raised and delivered $600,000 in aid to our enemies in Fallujah. How can we stand by and let these kind of people select our government?

We need you help now more than ever. I hope we can count on you to fight back and support the candidates who will stand up for our troops and America's interests.

announcement from Barb Davis White for Congress

Dear Friends, Supporters and Patriots for Barb Davis White for Congress,

Thank you for your wonderful support. We still have a long journey in front of us, keep the support coming! The campaign would like to share our latest Press Release with you.

Minneapolis, Minnesota...(September 2008) - The Campaign to elect Barb Davis White for the United States Congress is having amazing success.  In the last week the campaign staff and “boots” have been going door-to-door distributing information and talking to residents from all over Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District. Ms. White says, “I went to the door in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, an older White couple came the door and said – We’re voting for you, we can’t vote for Keith Ellison, he doesn’t represent us anymore”.  Davis White went on to say, “These people normally vote Democrat, but want a change and someone that will take action and never forget about We the People”. Now as the campaign moves forward, even people that voted Democrat are supporting Barb Davis White for Congress.

Barb Davis White is “Pro-Life”! She says, “The killing of thousands of innocent baby’s everyday must stop! As a Patriot I believe that the first right according to the Constitution of the United States is that of LIFE. My opponent Keith Ellison does not and votes for the notion that the killing of babies should not be discussed by script from a physician to a mother as to what was going to happen to her and her baby. As recent as July 23, 2008 concerning the 8th District Court of Appeal’s ruling he states, "This Court's ruling is outrageous in its demand that doctors recite an "Orwellian" script designed to intimidate and humiliate women exercising their reproductive rights. This obtuse ruling is an indication of this Court's ignorance of, and insensitivity to, both the fundamental right to an abortion, as well as the process whereby a woman arrives at such a personal decision," Ellison stated. The idea of choosing whether or not a baby lives or dies has become a major issue of convenience instead of medical necessity when it was once a based on the critical concerns over a mother's life. Our life-honoring and liberty-loving society must approach an issue of such magnitude and sensitivity as abortion with great care. Conservatives do not wish to monitor the bedroom, nor inject government into the doctor/patient relationship. However, conservatives are equally sensitive to the history of agenda driven special interest groups, such as the eugenicist Margaret Sanger. Launched in 1939, Miss Sanger’s Negro Project was an effort to eliminate the black race through programs of overt population control. The definition of life and of the worth of the individual is not the State’s plebiscite (nor lemming) it is a valuable Life and Life in its truest definition is Purpose not inane.

Rather, the protection of life and of individual liberties is the Constitution’s duty to the governed. The will of the people, expressed in law and executed by constitutional mechanisms is the surest form of protection of life. Roe v. Wade does not pass this constitutional test and ought to be overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States; the issue should then be returned to the states and their electorates.

Since Roe v. Wade passed in 1973 we have chosen to kill more children than the populations of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Houston, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, St. Louis, New York, and Washington DC “combined” or a baby dies in its mother’s womb once every 22 seconds. I would contend that the Black Population is in the stages of complete Genocide. Life is not being protected.

The Wright County Republican has written an article titled, "Barb Davis White can Beat Keith Ellison" Read the full story here: http://www.wrightrepublican.blogspot.com/2008/06/barb-davis-white-can-beat-keith-ellison.html. The campaign has seen undeniable evidence this summer to support the fact that there is a growing change of heart and "Buyer’s Remorse" that the people of the 5th CD have expressed to us about having Keith in office. It is time for us to take the lead and with your support get Barb Davis White elected to the United State Congress. Keith Ellison won in 2006 with only 136,000 votes - this was not a "Peoples Mandate".

That number represents 14% less than what Martin Sabo won with before he retired.

At the Conservative Issues Fair held on Sunday, September 20, 2008 at the Airport Hilton in Bloomington with keynote speaker and 100.3 KLTK-FM’s Jason Lewis a man walked up and told Barb Davis White, “If you win, it will show the country what real change is about”.

On October 8, 2008 (Wednesday Evening – 4-8 P.M), the Friends of Barb Davis White for Congress will be having a Meet the Candidate event at the W Hotel in the “W Living Room” – (www.WHotels.com) in the Foshay Tower – Historic Art Deco - Manny’s Restaurant located at 821 Marquette Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55402. There will be Complimentary Hors D’Oeuvres, Cash Bar, and Valet Parking - Dress Code: Smart Casual. All this with special guest speakers!

Join the Friends of Barb Davis White for Congress Campaign 2008 as we march forward to take back Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

Appeals court upholds Arizona immigration law

September 17th, 2008 @ 6:20pm

By JACQUES BILLEAUD
Associated Press Writer
PHOENIX (AP) - A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld an Arizona law that penalizes businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants and requires them to verify the employment status of their workers.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision rejected a challenge by business and civil-rights groups that contend the law infringes on federal immigration powers.
The law, intended to lessen the economic incentive for immigrants to sneak into the country, imposes civil penalties on employers by suspending or revoking their business licenses when they are found to have knowingly hired illegal immigrants.
While it upheld the law, a three-judge panel of the court left the door open for other challenges, saying no one has been accused of violating the law since it took effect nine months ago.
Republican state Rep. Russell Pearce of Mesa, the author of the law, said the ruling is a big win for the movement to get state and local governments to crack down on illegal immigration.
"Locals are just as responsible for the crisis in America in this invasion (of illegal immigrants) as the federal government," Pearce said.
The civil-rights groups that challenged the law are considering whether to appeal the ruling to the 9th Circuit or the U.S. Supreme Court.
Jonathan Weissglass, an attorney for the groups, said the law and the ruling could create problems for employers who have operations in more than one state because states could have different sets of hiring rules.
"What the 9th Circuit has allowed is everyone can enact its own laws regarding immigrant employment, which would create chaos," Weissglass said.
It's unclear whether the business groups that challenged the law will seek an appeal. Two lawyers representing the groups were unavailable for comment Wednesday because they were out of the country.
Lawyers for the state argued that while a similar federal hiring law prevents states from imposing civil or criminal penalties against businesses for illegal hirings, the federal law lets states take licensing actions against violators. The appellate court agreed with that argument.
A lower-court judge upheld the law in February.

Moving Forward with E-Verify
Program to Check Legal Status Already 99.5% Accurate

WASHINGTON (September 18, 2008) – The E-Verify program, which allows employers to check the immigration status of new employees, has been steadily improving and is now 99.5 percent accurate, according to a new paper by the Center for Immigration Studies. This voluntary program is already screening more than one in ten new hires nationwide, and as of September 13, 2008, has processed 6.21 million queries.

E-Verify is set to expire on November 30, 2008, unless it is re-authorized by Congress. The House of Representatives has already passed a reauthorization bill by a vote of 407-2, while the Senate has not yet taken action.

To help inform debate over E-Verify, the Center for Immigration Studies has produced a thorough evaluation. The Backgrounder, entitled “If It’s Fixed, Don’t Break It: Moving Forward with E-Verify,” is authored by Janice Kephart, Director of National Security Studies at the Center and a former counsel to the 9/11 Commission. The report covers the many facets of the E-Verify debate: statistics regarding usage, cost, and effectiveness; legislative history; executive orders affecting the program; the relationship of E-Verify to worksite enforcement; and past improvements to the program as well as future goals.

The report is available online at http://www.cis.org/. Among the findings:

# As of the first half of FY 2007, only one-half of one percent of eligible employees screened had to take additional steps to obtain work authorization; overall, the system is 99.5% accurate.

# More than 93 percent of employees are verified within five seconds; another 1.2 percent are verified within 24 hours. A new Photo Screening Tool and a streamlined procedure for naturalized citizens to receive authorization are increasing accuracy and efficiency for employers and employees; naturalized citizens no longer need to take remedial action at Social Security.

# About 5 percent of new employees are not confirmed as work authorized, mirroring the same percentage of illegal aliens estimated to be in the labor force.

# When E-Verify became web-based later in 2004, 1,533 employers had signed up. As of September 13, 2008, there are 85,816 employers representing over 446,000 sites and over 6.21 million queries processed. Currently, about 1,000 new employers join per week.

# Eleven states require use of E-Verify in certain circumstances (AZ, CO, GA, ID, MN, MO, MS, NC, OK, RI, and UT).

Free Films for Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week!!!

Free Films for Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week!!!

This fall, during the week of October 13-17, students on more than 100 campuses will launch a campaign under the banner “Stop the Jihad on Campus” designed to make the university community aware of the support provided for the jihadists' agendas by organizations inside America and on American university campuses. Students on over 100 campuses across the nation plan to participate in this Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week by hosting speakers, showing films, holding memorial services for the victims of terror, distributing petitions, and other means of raising awareness of the threat from radical Islam.
For a limited time only, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is providing FREE COPIES of several ground-breaking films on the terrorist threat to students who plan to screen them on their campuses during the months of September and October.

Normally, purchasing a copy of one of these films for a screening would cost you about $100, but we will provide a FREE COPY of the movie(s) of your choice to screen during Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. We will also add your campus to the list of schools participating in Islamo-Fascism Awareness Day on our website, www.terrorismawareness.org.
The films available for screening are:

The Path to 9/11 (longer film—may require two nights for screening)

Description: This controversial ABC miniseries dramatizes the 1993 World Trade Center attack and the events leading up to the terrorist attack of September 11th.  Due to pressure from Bill Clinton and his supporters, ABC was forced to edit out several crucial scenes before the broadcast.  While this miniseries may never be released, we are lucky to have the full, unedited version intended for broadcast on DVD.

Obsession

Description: The acclaimed documentary Obsession uses unique footage from Arab television to create an ‘insiders’ view of the hatred Islamic radicals are teaching in the Middle East, their incitement of global jihad, and their goal of world domination. The film features interviews with Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, Alan Dershowitz, a former PLO terrorist, and even a former Hitler Youth commander.

Islam: What the West Needs to Know

Using original interviews, citations from Islamic texts, Islamic artwork, computer-animated maps, footage of Western leaders, and Islamic television broadcasts, Islam: What the West Needs to Know reveals the roots of the violent, expansionist ideology of Al-Qaeda and other Islamic jihadist groups, showing how they seek the destruction or subjugation of other faiths, cultures, and systems of government. In so doing, this presentation paves the way for courageous Islamic reformers to confront and formulate a new approach to the Islamic teachings that the jihadists exploit.

Islam v. Islamists

This film answers the questions, asked so frequently after 9/11: Where are the moderate Muslims? Where is their voice of outrage over what is being done in the name of their religion? Islam v. Islamists finds these moderates and presents their outrage. But it also shows how such individuals are being slandered and threatened by their radical Islamist brethren, who isolate them by claiming that they are not “true” Muslims at all.

We are working on getting the rights to distribute additional films.  We will announce these on our website and send out email notifications in the near future.

Quantities of each film are limited, so please respond promptly to receive the best selection.   Please let us know which day you plan to screen the film, and make sure to reserve an appropriate auditorium. Forms giving you permission to screen the film on campus are available through the David Horowitz Freedom Center.

More information on holding other events (speakers, protests, petition drives, memorial services, etc) is available in our Student Guide to Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, to be found at www.terrorismawareness.org.

A flyer depicting anti-American quotes from three radical Islamic leaders who have been frequent speakers at campus MSA gatherings has been prepared to notify students about the Week on your campus. We recommend that these flyers be posted at least twice on each campus participating in the Week—once at the beginning of October and again directly before to attract attention for upcoming events. We will send you the flyer via email upon request.

Other literature and materials for Stop the Jihad on Campus Week are available on our website, www.terrorismawareness.org <http://www.terrorismawareness.org/> .

To participate in Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week and to get your FREE COPY of one of more of the above films to screen during Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, please contact Jeffrey Wienir at jeffrey@horowitzfreedomcenter.org or at 800-752-6562, ext. 206.

How to celebrate the Constitution

Two-hundred and twenty-one years ago Wednesday, the Founding Fathers
signed the Constitution of the United States, starting the
ratification process for what ultimately became the fundamental law.

We celebrate this anniversary as Constitution Day, and Heritage
Foundation scholar Joe Postell has helpfully rounded up resources for
citizens to learn about the nation's highest law.

http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=aJmokfv4cDLkNlW6YQrU5w..

But the Constitution ought not be remembered just one day a year,
Postell argues. But the Constitution ought not be remembered just one
day a year, Postell argues.

"Our Constitution is responsible for our greatness and prosperity, and
the remarkable stability we experience in our political life.
Where other nations are vulnerable to radical movements which
undermine liberty and self-government, our Constitution has been the
anchor and ballast by which we have maintained a stable regime.
But if our Constitution is to continue to provide these blessings, we
must seize these opportunities to recur to our Constitution's
principles."

E-Verify: A program that works

E-Verify is a voluntary program that allows private employers to
ensure electronically that their new hires are eligible to work in the
United States. So far this year, it has processed more than four
million eligibility checks, and 82,000 employers take advantage of the
free service.

But Heritage's James Carafano explains that "unless Congress steps in,
on November 30, E-Verify is set to expire." Instead of allowing it to
lapse, Congress should reauthorize it.
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=lL5I4N14aZKyRyfHRODq-A..

"The system has proven to be quite effective," he explains, "and SSA
and DHS continue to work to improve service, reliability, and privacy
protections."

Other Heritage work of note

*  Entrepreneurship. Heritage experts Stuart Butler, Bill Beach,
and Paul Winfree collaborated with the Economic Mobility Project
to produce a valuable piece of research called "Pathways to
Economic Mobility." The report concludes that "educational
attainment, family structure and savings are the strongest
determinants of whether Americans move up or down the economic
ladder." -- David Talbot
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=Dlx5zOUoDFrxq6YV7CgK-w..

*  Rule of Law. Heritage legal scholar Andrew Grossman writes that
housewife Lori Drew is accused of "impersonating a young man on
MySpace to gain the trust of an emotionally troubled teen, Megan
Meier, who killed herself after the cruel joke spun out of
control." But while Drew's behavior was certainly irresponsible,
Grossman argues, "it was not criminal" A conviction under
criminal law could set bad precedents, subjecting citizens to
arbitrary laws and, in effect, making everyone a criminal.
http://members.myheritage.org/site/R?i=7xPVa6kr9kJA9SjSWA5JWg..

*  Entrepreneurship. Heritage's Center for Data Analysis has
released an important new report on philanthropy in free-market
systems. The report, compiled by Guinevere Nell, James Sherk and
Paul Winfree, says that free enterprise works to the benefit of
all people because it allows for charitable giving that helps
everyone. "Believing that government redistribution of
wealth is harmful for the economy does not signify supporting a
society where 'You're on your own.' Free markets enable
entrepreneurs to become very wealthy--and they often use
this wealth to benefit others." Read more on Heritage's Insider

Freedom," "Where Big Government Came From," "The Future in the

Did you know yesterday was Constitution Day?

A Salute To Our U.S. Constitution
By Chuck Baldwin
September 17, 2008

On this date in 1787, the U.S. Constitution was adopted. 39 delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies (Rhode Island did not send a representative) affixed their signatures to the greatest civil document ever conceived by men. Famous patriots such as George Washington, Roger Sherman, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Morris, Gouverneur Morris, James Madison, George Clymer, and Abraham Baldwin were among this gallant group.

Under divine Providence, it has been allegiance to the Constitution that has preserved our liberties and protected our very way of life. Most of the problems, failings, and frustrations that plague our nation today are due to the propensity of our civil magistrates to ignore or blatantly abuse constitutional government. Accordingly, fidelity to the Constitution would likely repair most of the damage done by this neglect.

It is the responsibility of a free people to jealously guard the principles upon which their liberties are predicated. For citizens of these United States, the principles that duly protect our liberties are contained in the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence.  Therefore, it is incumbent upon every American to studiously familiarize
himself with these documents.

Furthermore, it is the duty of every American to stubbornly hold their elected representative, at every level of government, accountable to his or her oath to the Constitution. The U.S. Constitution is the contract that every civil magistrate makes with "We the People." Failure of an elected representative to fulfill that oath to the Constitution should be met with swift and certain rejection by the people at the polls. Nothing else should matter. Republican or Democrat, man or woman, black or white, believer or unbeliever: it is the responsibility of every civil magistrate to submit to the restrictions and instructions of the Constitution.

Our Constitution (along with the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence) was formed, framed, and founded upon the eternal principles contained in Natural Law, which proceeds forth from man's Creator and Redeemer. No people in human history have ever been so blessed as the people of the United States to inherit such a legacy. Such a heritage serves only to heighten our own responsibility, as "unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required."

On this Constitution Day of 2008, may this generation of Americans live up to its responsibility to valiantly bequeath to our posterity the same legacy of freedom that was so bravely and miraculously bequeathed to us. For the sake of freedom, for the love of our children, and for the safety and security of our republic, may each of us determine for ourselves--and commit to Almighty God--to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

No Oil for Blood Thanks to three American senators, China will be pumping Iraqi oil.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

I believe there is plenty of blame to go around in the cancer that is Washington D.C., but the last 8 years has brought the death of the Democrat Party and the attempted suicide of the Republican party.
It is amazing to me that one person can make such a difference, if she is who she says she is. What a mass of quivering, ignorant jello like substance that far too many Americans and pseudo Americans have become. To live in a Republic of Liberty like ours means staying involved and educated on who is doing what, when, where, why, and how. Which, by the way, is what the Free Press used to be, instead of merchants of social change. Excuse me while I puke!
But in the ever resilient  free market innovation has found ways to get past the totalist garbage that passes for journalism these days. Brought about by one man of unwavering principle Ronaldus Maximus Reagan, who deregulated the broadcasting of radio and TV. and brought about the crowning of another individual of principle, Rush Limbaugh who inspired many more to do what he did.
My point of this tirade is to say to the people who may read this: The truth is out there, but you wont find it on the left or with those who try to out do the left by being more left( See the top line now).
This blog has all sorts of research links and organizations who understand and can teach those who want to know how to share in the American Dream.
You may have heard about some little problems we have been having with the economy lately. Read the article below. This is just the latest example of "issues" you won't hear about in the drive by media.
God help us all, especially the clueless fools with their heads in the sand. You don't know who you are, I am thinking.
Leftfoot Leeds

The Iraqi government was poised to sign no-bid contracts with those firms this summer to help make immediate and needed improvements in Iraq's oil infrastructure. The result would have been significant foreign investment in Iraq, an expansion of Iraqi government revenues, and an increase in the global supply
