4th of July Greetingg

Sent to me from SM @ Soldier's Angels (official) thouhgt I'd pass it on to you. Have a great 4th of July Holiday stay safe all!

Have a safe 4th of July weekend! LET FREEDOM RING!

Independence Day specifically recognizes the Second Continental Congress’ adoption of the Declaration of Independence. But we can extend our thoughts and reflections on this day, and honor the United States’ continuing commitment to protecting freedom and the spreading of democracy. Since declaring independence from Great Britain in 1776 (and sacrificing dearly to win it), the United States has risen as the world’s champion of liberty and freedom.

We should include in our thoughts on July 4th, 2009 not just the forefathers who resolved to sever ties with England, but also the men who fought so dutifully to defend the decision. And we should also take time to honor the sacrifice of all men and women who have worn U.S. military uniforms in the ensuing 232 years. These people have served to ensure our freedom and the freedom of people in foreign countries. Today we continue this struggle in Afghanistan and Iraq—and we know that freedom and liberty will prevail. People say “support the troops.” They could also say “support freedom.” Troops and freedom: The two are one and the same.

Service members who serve literally keep freedom alive and well. The men who signed that declaration in Philadelphia long ago would today be proud of our nation's heroes accomplishments. Proud, to see that their beliefs and convictions have been upheld and protected.

Happy Fourth of July! Please be safe and continue to support our troops!

A big thank you from all of us at Soldiers' Angels.

Blood Samples Raise Questions of Privacy
By Rob Stein
June 30, 2009

Matthew Brzica and his wife hardly noticed when the hospital took a few drops of blood from each of their four newborn children for routine genetic testing. But then they discovered that the state had kept the dried blood samples ever since -- and was making them available to scientists for medical...

..."Once learning the genetics of one child, you could see an insurance company seeing that possibility for the next child and making it clear that this is a preexisting condition that the company would not cover. Or perhaps an employer that found out about it wouldn't want to have us as an employee," said Twila Brase of the Citizens' Council on Health Care in St. Paul.

Organization blasts new health data-collection law; state counters it’s cost-efficient

An organization that advocates “patient and physician freedom” is decrying a new Minnesota law that directs state health plans to transfer “de-identified” patient medical records to a data warehouse in Maine....

The new state law, which goes into effect Wednesday [JULY 1]...

But Twila Brase, president of the St. Paul-based Citizens’ Council on Health Care, said the law constitutes an “extraordinary intrusion into the patient-doctor relationship and a complete violation of patient and citizen rights.”

“Private patient data will soon become publicly owned data, allowing government interference in medical decisions,” Brase said....

Give Me Money-American Vision

From American Vision: Give Me Money

"The Bible does not minimize the importance of economics. The Garden of Eden makes mention of gold and precious stones: “The gold of that land is good” (Genesis 2:11-12). Jesus used money as a teaching device in many of His parables. John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church, Panorama City, California, said that

16 out of 38 of Christ’s parables deal with money; more is said in the New Testament about money than heaven and hell combined; five times more is said about money than prayer; and while there are 500 plus verses on both prayer and faith, there are over 2,000 verses dealing with money and possessions.[1]

One of the criteria for leadership in the church is based on how a man uses money (1 Tim. 3:3). This includes management of his own household (v. 4). As Christians we have no biblical warrant to avoid the topic of money, investments, savings, and inheritance. A case could be made that an elder who does not have money to manage is not a good candidate for the office. And what applies to church government should apply as well to civil government. One of the reasons our economy is in a mess is that most of the men and women holding office have never owned a business. Economics is a biblical word rich with meaning."

Rep Party of MN, AAHF, Cap n Trade,

This is a copy of a e-mail sent to me from the new Leader of the the Republican Party in MN
Thanks Tony

Let me be very clear: I disagree with the Minnesota Supreme Court's decision in Sen. Coleman's appeal.  The court's ruling wrongly disenfranchises thousands of Minnesotans. There were unacceptable disparities in the way Minnesotans' ballots were treated based upon the counties in which they reside. Democrats seized on these disparities and hunted for ballots so they could win the election through the courts. This is completely unacceptable and we will never let it happen again.

While we respect Senator Coleman's decision to not appeal, we believe that this ruling wrongly leaves thousands of Minnesotans silenced. In 2010, we must defeat the ACORN Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to ensure our state's elections are conducted in a fair and non-partisan manner.

Senator Al Franken* will always have an asterisk next to his name. However, we must resolve to fight the Democrats as they chip away at our liberties with higher taxes, unsustainable spending, and 21st century socialism.

Finally, I would like you to join me in thanking Norm Coleman. For 30 years he worked tirelessly as a public servant for the betterment of our state and of our country. Norm's dedication and leadership for our state makes us proud to be Minnesotans.

I am attaching the statements I released to the press today:

"Today's ruling wrongly disenfranchised thousands of Minnesotans who deserve to have their votes counted. Alongside Senator Coleman, the Republican Party of Minnesota has fought to make sure every vote counts and all voters are treated fairly and uniformly. As we move forward, our deeply flawed election system must be dramatically improved to ensure our state's elections are fair, accurate and reliable."

"Senator Coleman's gracious remarks following a long and hard fought campaign are to be commended. For over three decades, Norm Coleman has served Minnesotans with high distinction and honor as a prosecutor, mayor and United States senator. Norm's commitment to Minnesota will never waver. He is a good man who has fought the good fight."

Sincerely,

Tony Sutton

Chairman-Elect, Republican Party of Minnesota

According to the bill's sponsors, it is "a comprehensive approach to America's energy policy that will create millions of new clean energy jobs, save consumers hundreds of billions of dollars in energy costs, enhance America's energy independence, and cut global warming pollution."

'Where Have All The Leaders Gone?' From Lee Iacocca's book

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes?  He's now 82 years old and has a new book, 'Where Have All The Leaders  Gone?'.
Here is an excerpt. See also: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/iacocca.asp

Lee Iacocca Says:

'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening?  Where the hell is our outrage?  We should be screaming bloody murder!  We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and  we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But  instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course.'

Stay the course? You've got to be kidding.  This is  America , not the damned, 'Titanic'.  I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the bums out!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak  up. I hardly recognize this country anymore.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in  Iraq , the  Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the 'America' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for.  I've had enough.  How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis ! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C's of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself.  It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001 , we needed a  strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here's where we stand.

We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving.

We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country.

We're losing the manufacturing edge to  Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.

Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy.  Our schools are in trouble.

Our borders are like sieves.

The middle class is being squeezed every  which way.

These are times that cry out for  leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where  have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators?  Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the  point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?

We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina.  Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane or demanding accountability for  the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm.

Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn't happen again. Now, that's just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you're going to do the next time.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is  being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What  is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on CNN will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here.  I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope - I believe in  America . In my lifetime, I've had the privilege of living through some of  America 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: The 'Great Depression,' 'World War  II,' the 'Korean War,' the 'Kennedy Assassination,' the 'Vietnam War,' the  1970's oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with  9/11.

If I've learned one thing, it's this: 'You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a "Call to Action" for people who, like me, believe in  America '. It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So  let' s shake off the crap and go to work. Let's tell 'em all we've had enough.

Make your own contribution by sending this to everyone you know and care about.. It's our country, folks, and it's our future. Our  future is at stake!!

Star Parker

Thanks again to G-man for passing this on.

Back  on Uncle Sam's plantation

Star Parker - Syndicated Columnist

Six years ago I wrote a book called Uncle Sam's Plantation. I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.

I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas -- a poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps.

A vast sea of perhaps well-intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960s by Democrats, that were going to lift the nation's poor out of poverty.

A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation.  Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from "How do I take care of myself?" to "What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?"

Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems -- the kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.

The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.

Through God's grace, I found my way out.  It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.

I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996 which was passed by a Republican controlled Congress.

I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth-producing American capitalism.

But, incredibly, we are now going in the opposite direction.

Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, "Thank you, Suh."

Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-Ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus.

"This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending -- it's a strategy for America 'S long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education."

Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government can take place "with unprecedented transparency and accountability."

Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education.

Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 -- The War on Poverty -- which President Johnson said "....does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done.. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty."

Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same. But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single-parent homes and out-of-wedlock births.

It's not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama's invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom.

Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

"The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

Tiger Woods Speech At the Obaminations Inauguration

Did you hear the Tiger Woods Speech? It was the only true thing said there.
Sent to me by G-Man...Thanks Again

Please pass this on. God Bless America.

TIGER WOODS SPEECH AT THE 2009 INAUGURATION:

Tiger Woods received a special invitation to speak at the
inauguration.    His invitees were stunned, shocked when he  did not
deliver the message they expected.     A brief read and you  will
understand why the media swept Woods' remarks under the rug with no
further ado and why the liberal left of our American society was again
              displeased with  Tiger.

              His speech was entitled:

              "You'll Never Walk Alone"
[text is word-for-word as posted on Tiger's web site]

"I grew up in a military family - and my role models in life were  my
Mom and Dad, Lt. Colonel Earl Woods.   My dad was a Special  Forces
operator and many nights friends would visit our home.   They
represented every branch of the service, and every rank.

In my Dad, and in those guests, I saw first hand the dedication and
commitment of those who serve. They come from every walk of life; from
every part of our country.   Time and again, across generations,  they
have defended our safety in the dark of night and far from home.

Each day -- and particularly on this historic day -- we honor the men
and women in uniform who serve our country and protect our freedom.
They travel to the dangerous corners of the world, and we must
remember that for every person who is in uniform, there are families
who wait for them to come home safely.

I am honored that the military is such an important part, not just of
my personal life, but of my professional one as well.   The golf
tournament we do each year here in Washington is a testament to those
              unsung heroes.

I am the son of a man who dedicated his life to his country, family
and the military, and I am a better person for it.

In the summer of 1864, Abraham Lincoln, the man at whose memorial we
stand, spoke to the 164th Ohio Regiment and said: 'I am greatly
obliged to you, and to all who have come forward at the call of their
              country.'

Just as they have stood tall for our country - we must always stand by
and support the men and women in uniform and their families.

Thank you, and it is now my pleasure to introduce the US Naval Glee  Club ...."

              ====

Tiger Woods' 2-minute, 5-second  tribute to the our nation's  military
was delivered January 18th at the Inaugural Celebration in Washington ,
DC!      He had been subjected to intense pressure to  attend and offer
remarks.     Especially so by liberals who have demeaned and
criticized him for a decade for not joining their ranks.     Yet, at
the Lincoln Memorial, instead of paying homage to Barack Obama, Tiger
paid tribute to our soldiers.     Not once did Tiger mention  Obama,
the inauguration or the new administration.     He had to  understand
expressing his love for America and appreciation for our military men
and women would disappoint the national newsmedia and the liberal
left.     But Tiger is his own man;  his father taught  him to be his
              own man.

Somewhere over that cold, gray Washington sky, Colonel Earl Woods was
smiling down on his beloved son.     And there will be one  more crying
hug waiting for Tiger when the time comes he passes through heavan's
              gates into God's arms.
              ******

What?   You did not previously know what Tiger said?   You did not
see a video clip of him speaking on a national television network, you
did not see a photo of Tiger at the Lincoln Memorial offering his
remarks, you did not read a story in the NY Times?   His
appearance at the Inaugural Celebration had been widely hailed and
promoted in advance by the Obama inaugural organizers .. . . yet
January 18 when he came and spoke . . .

              Oh, well.

WELL   If you are as tired of this liberal media reporting as I  am, change the channel, and pass this one on.  I am!

And the Con keeps on Rolling... Carbongate from IBD "Climate Change: A suppressed EPA study says old U.N. data ignore the decline in global temperatures and other inconvenient truths. Was the report kept under wraps to influence the vote on the cap-and-trade bill?" and also...Americans want Health Reform But Not Government-Run Care "Although sharply divided along party lines, most Americans favor an overhaul of the health care system, but they are concerned that the quality of care will decrease significantly if government is allowed to run it."
Fantastic Article Descriptor of P-BHO The Despot From The American Thinker...Obama, The African Colonial By L.E. Ikenga
"Had Americans been able to stop obsessing over the color of Barack Obama's skin and instead paid more attention to his cultural identity, maybe he would not be in the White House today. The key to understanding him lies with his identification with his father, and his adoption of a cultural and political mindset rooted in postcolonial Africa.
Like many educated intellectuals in post-colonial Africa, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. was enraged at the transformation of his native land by its colonial conqueror. But instead of embracing the traditional values of his own tribal cultural past, he embraced an imported Western ideology, Marxism. I call such frustrated and angry modern Africans who embrace various foreign "isms", instead of looking homeward for repair of societies that are broken, African Colonials. They are Africans who serve foreign ideas."

Fw: Polls show 68% for deportation!! From the Heritage Foundation "

(Update: On Tuesday, May 16, the Senate passed Sen. Jeff Bingaman's (D-NM) amendment to S. 2611 that significantly reduced the number of legal immigrants who could enter under the bill's "guest worker" program. As a result of this change, our estimate of the number of legal immigrants who would enter the country or would gain legal status under S. 2611 falls from 103 million to around 66 million over the next 20 years.)

If enacted, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (CIRA, S.2611) would be the most dramatic change in immigration law in 80 years, allowing an estimated 103 million persons to legally immigrate to the U.S. over the next 20 years—fully one-third of the current population of the United States."

"The Republican Party wonders why they can't get their stuff together, and it is because they say one thing on the campaign trail, and do another once they are elected. The Cap and Trade Bill just passed the House by 2 votes, and if that wasn't bad enough, there was 8 Republicans that voted for the bill. If it wasn't for these arrogant idiots, then this country would have been saved from destruction." White House War on Science

HIGHLY IMPORTANT

Cap and Trade Floor Vote on Friday: Take Action!

This is an urgent message from FreedomWorks. By now you’ve probably heard that leaders in the House have cobbled together enough compromises late Monday night to get the dreaded “Cap and Trade” bill to the floor this Friday.  More accurately referred to as “Cap and Tax,” the Waxman-Markey climate legislation is an enormous energy tax that would deal a severe blow to our already shaky economy.

It is vital that you Take Action now.  We are asking that you take some time to do three things.

1.    Click here to send an email to your Representative.
2.    Call (866) 928-3035 for the House switchboard where you can be transferred to your Representative’s office.  Try (866) 928-0525 if you get a busy signal. (Find your Representative here.)
3.    Forward this email to your friends and urge them to take action against this harmful legislation.

The positive effects of the Waxman-Markey bill on the climate are negligible, by some estimates, almost impossible to measure.  On the other hand, the effects it would have on our economy and way of life are devastating.

At the same time many are losing jobs and struggling to get by on less, the Cap and Trade plan would raise energy rates across the board.  That means sky-high electricity rates, and more pain at the pump.  The CBO has estimated the bill could mean another 77 cents per gallon of gasoline. Higher electricity and fuel prices add to the over-all cost of everything, like food from farms where growers depend on fertilizers, tractors, and transportation.  It’s one thing to conserve, but getting to work for the millions who don’t live near public transportation, and lighting and heating our homes are essentials people can’t avoid.

Independent estimates say that families could pay $3,000 more a year on energy and the entire plan would take $2 trillion from our economy in just over eight years.   Numbers like these come at a very real cost, not just in terms of your wallet but in terms of the many, many jobs this legislation gambles with.  If you would like more information, please click here to read our Top 10 list.

Waxman-Markey’s Cap and Trade is a plan that shoots us in the foot. We can’t afford this bill, especially when it means nothing in return. Please email and call your legislators now.
Sincerely,
Dick Armey
Chairman

t is not too late to kill "cap -and-trade" bill go here to read more and help out.

The Following from CAPS

"As you know, Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) has been offered another $50,000 "Challenge Grant" from a very generous donor who shares our concern over the growing tide of illegal immigrants pouring across our borders. But, this Grant does not come without pre-conditions and we need your immediate help today to make this Grant possible.

Here's why. A "Challenge Grant" works as follows: Our donor will give us $1 for every $1 we can raise on our own from supporters like you. That means if you give us $20 today, our donor will give us $20 tomorrow - meaning your gift is really worth $40 or double the original amount. Should you give $50, we would receive an additional $50 for a total gift of $100 and so on - all the way up to $50,000."

Bottom line? If we raise $50,000, our benefactor will give us an additional $50,000 - and that's $100,000 we can use right away to help us develop additional special projects like Americans for Border Security Now, and help us to produce critical pro-border security, anti-over-immigration TV, radio and newspaper ads all across the U.S. (To see our most recent ads, visit our website at www.CAPSweb.org).

"This "Challenge Grant" is one of those opportunities. And I urge you to help us take full advantage of it by clicking here now and donating a generous gift of $20, $40, $50 or more to CAPS today.
Thank you,
DH Sig

You can't multiply by dividing

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
