The flight is booked, and the requests for meetings have begun.

As a result of your support, I'll also be staying an extra day in hopes of getting more 'face time' with Congressional decision makers.

Three more items of interest while I'm writing to you:

1) I'll be speaking on "evidence-based medicine" in Seattle next week at a forum.

2) CCHC is in today's online bioethics news out of Australia: "Newborns' genetic tests: who owns them?"
               
3) Texas legislators just gave the State government and genetic researchers first dibs to each newborn citizens' genetic code. After Texas' storage and use of baby DNA was discovered and disclosed by a reporter who learned from CCHC what is happening in Minnesota, Texas legislators passed a bill that allows Baby DNA to be used for research...unless parents opt out. A lawsuit has been filed based on violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Thursday evening, May 28th, SD45 Republicans will host the debate between the Minnesota Republican leadership candidates for both the Chair and Deputy Chair positions at Armstrong High School.  It’s a first time event and it will give anyone who comes a chance to get an in-depth look at how these candidates would steer the State Republican party in these challenging times. Scheduled moderators are Ed Morrissey of Hot Air and AM1280 and Annette Meeks of the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota.

At the State Central meeting in off-election years like 2009, we elect new leaders. And at that event, there are campaign speeches by the candidates. They are inspiring, rapid, and energetic, but they do not offer the chance for rebuttal or questions. This will be a true debate with a moderator, and an opportunity for your questions to be heard.

community college in Ohio resulted in four members being arrested, one
on a felony assault charge that the ministry's leader claims is
fabricated.

Liberals in Congress want more government control over the economy, and more control over your decisions and lives. They want to tell you what kind of health
insurance you can buy, and what you can and can't eat or drink. And they want to raise your taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars to pay for all of these government controls, mandates and subsidies. Instead of allowing individuals to make their own decisions about their health care, liberals want to set up a bureaucracy to ration care to those they deem most worthy. This kind of system would be a tragic mistake, and would cost Americans both in terms of money and lives.

That is why I am sending you this message with some ideas about how we can stop the socialist agenda before it threatens the very liberty that this country was founded on. We have put together an activist tool kit that you can use to make a real difference in the policy debates on Capitol Hill. It's 1:15 a.m. and I want to report the good news. We won! The gavel came down at midnight, the Minnesota legislature adjourned in the nick of time, and the Baby DNA warehousing bill to repeal genetic privacy and DNA ownership rights at birth, never came up for a vote!

This is your success!

Your citizen petitions, the many people who attended the legislative hearings, your emails and phone calls to legislators, the Sue Jeffers show on KTLK, CCHC's new Protect Baby DNA cards, the Glenn Beck Program, Reps. Tom Emmer and Mary Liz Holberg, Sen. David Hann's great questions during the Senate hearing, the "Do NOT Repeal Genetic Privacy" stickers we all wore, my opportunity to speak at the Tea Party, our meeting with  Governor Pawlenty, the CCHC report on newborn screening and eugenics, the filing of the lawsuit against the Department, local TV news coverage (esp. WCCO-TV), the prayers of many people, and the unexpected informational hearing on genetic privacy led to this success.

Governor Pawlenty helped too. His budgeting ultimatum and declaration of no special session changed everything. The focus became the budget, health care cuts, and taxes. Assuming he meant it, there will not be a special session and our lives, liberty, property—and the genetic privacy law—are safe for another eight months.

The House and Senate Baby DNA bills (HF1341/SF1478), remain "alive" until next session because the legislature functions in a 2-year cycle. Plenty will be done before then on our side and on theirs...which could change entirely how the battle over who owns our genetic code looks when the state legislature returns on February 4, 2010.

We'll keep you apprised. There will be several events that you may want to participate in between now and then  as we work to secure dismantling of the State and Mayo Clinic's DNA warehouses, require the Health Department to follow the law (informed consent requirements) and secure DNA property rights in law.

But this morning, I and the members of the CCHC Board of Directors want to thank you for helping us preserve and protect genetic privacy rights, informed written consent rights, human research subject rights, parent rights and DNA property rights for all Minnesotans!

NYT Admits to spiking Story Alleging Illegal Obama-ACORN Connection

"Allegations that the Times spiked a story, right before the election, alleging illegal collusion between the far-left protest group ACORN and the Obama campaign, have been bubbling around the blogosphere since late March.

 

A former ACORN employee, Anita Moncrief, told Times reporter Stephanie Strom that she had evidence of "constant contact" between ACORN's Project Vote and the Obama campaign -- that the campaign had provided a list of donors it could use to solicit contributions. PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was
awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
giving his life to save his fellow Seals.
(Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD.
He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS.)

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego ,
as his coffin was being moved from the hearse
to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National 
Cemetery , SEAL's were lined up on both sides
of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's,
with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's
coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his
gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down
embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.



The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side,
it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.

This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero..

This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see every day..
Since the media won't make this news,

I am very proud of our military. If you are proud too, please pass this on.  If not, you can still rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect you, deserving or not!!!.

Whether they call it Residential Inspection Before Sale (RIBS), Time of Sale (TOS), Point of Sale (POS), Truth in Sale, or Truth in Housing, or invent another acronym it all means the same.  Columbia Heights is looking at bringing back the Residential Inspection Before Sale program.  The city will be offering several resident informational meetings and meeting with realtors to explain their reason for looking at this again.

What amazes me is that this very item was presented to the city last summer and over 150 people packed out the city council chambers bringing a very effective case as to why this was not a good idea.  After listening to numerous citizens the city council reversed their decision and voted against this type of ordinance.  The council did come back a few months later and passed the same type of ordinance but it affects only foreclosed or abandoned homes.  The city also has a detailed inspection program for rental properties.  When this second inspection ordinance was passed we were reassured by Mayor Peterson that they did get the message that the original RIBS inspection program would not be reconsidered.

It is time that residents need to stay aware of what this city council is doing.  Go to the informational meetings.  (At the time of this writing, no dates have been set.)  There is a realtor's informational meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 20 but you will need to contact the city for the time.  Start coming to city council meetings.  City council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday in the city council chambers.  City Council Work Sessions are held the 1st Monday of the month.  If you can't make it to a meeting watch the city council meeting on the local cable channel.  If you can't do that, make sure that you read the minutes and agendas from city council meetings that are available on the city website or available from the city offices.  Since this item was reintroduced at the EDA meeting, it is time that residents start attending those meetings as well.  The next EDA meeting will be held on May 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the City Conference Room.

The city staff have accused us of being misinformed about the original ordinance.  Yet many residents gave very convincing arguments against the inspection ordinance otherwise this council would not have changed it's opinion about the benefits of the original ordinance.  The council had the audacity to claim that "they got the message" and yet they are now reconsidering this program.

The only council member that seems to be convinced that this is not a good idea is Mr. Nawrocki.  At the May 11th city council meeting, Mr. Nawrocki  brought up the fact that the city was reintroducing this ordinance and was accused by the city manager, Mr. Fehst that this was incorrect and that this was a lie.  Yet, in looking at the EDA minutes from March, it is stated over and over that RIBS is going to be introduced.

It is time to make sure that this city is doing what it promised and not misrepresenting its citizens.  Watch for articles in the paper, watch for the summer newsletter from the city, read the letters to the editor, watch the council meetings, stay informed.   Let's hold our city accountable for its promises.  Maybe they will be able to present a convincing argument.  But at this point I am very skeptical and I know there are many citizens in this community that share my opinion.

Make sure you read page 7 of the summer edition of the Columbia Heights city newsletter.  (If you don't have it yet, it is available at the city website.  There is a paragraph stating that the city is re-examining the need for more housing inspections.  This paragraph does not call it RIBS but that is what they are looking at.  The city is concerned that they are not getting the chance to inspect more homes before they are sold.

At a press conference in Turkey, President Obama asserted that the United States is not a Judeo-Christian nation.

"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation."

Our nation's Founders in 1776 recognized the importance of faith in the founding of our nation when they approved the Declaration of Independence with its four direct religious acknowledgments of God as the Creator ("All people are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"), the Lawgiver ("the laws of nature and nature's God"), the Judge ("appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world"), and the Protector ("with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence") of the new nation.

In fact throughout the American Founding, Congress frequently appropriated money for missionaries and for religious instruction, a practice that Congress repeated for decades after the passage of the Constitution and the First Amendment.

Please stand with our nation's Founders, past Presidents from each political party, and other Americans who believe that the United States is a Judeo-Christian nation by birth.

We’ve sounded the alarm before about the Left’s intention to use “media diversity” and “localsim” to silence talk radio in “Fairness” Doctrine-esque fashion. These are the new “Fairness” Doctrines.


Well the time is near, and the process has begun.


Just yesterday the Obama Administration's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) convened its “Advisory Committee on Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age.”


This Commission is made up of a laundry list of left-wing organizations, with a smattering of radio and television companies included to break up the monotony. Not a single conservative organization is taking part in this Commission - more than a dozen Leftist groups are.


Obama’s unbalanced “media diversity” Committee is the start of the "New" Fairness Doctrine.


Weston, this meeting moves us closer to a ”Fairness” Doctrine-esque silencing of talk radio. Obama’s FCC seeks to regulate out of existence Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and the other First Amendment champions we count on and enjoy every day.


The Chairman of Obama’s FCC “Media Diversity” Commission is Henry Rivera. Back in 1985, President Ronald Reagan replaced Rivera on the FCC because Rivera was a virulent supporter of the “Fairness” Doctrine, and Reagan was seeking to end the unConstitutional regulatory lock on free speech. Two years later, Reagan did and the rest is broadcast history.


Ever since, the Left has yearned to re-censor talk radio. And this is how Obama’s FCC now plans on doing it. The “Fairness” Doctrine is dead – long live the new “Fairness” Doctrines.


That’s why I’m now asking you, our MRC Action Team members who haven’t yet signed on to our Free Speech petition, to please do so now. Weston, this is an imminent threat that can no longer be ignored. Please take a moment to sign our petition and take part in this battle to protect and preserve our Free Speech Rights.

Thus American households have suffered declines of $8 trillion and $4 trillion, respectively, in the value of their two key assets—stocks and homes—and a 20 percent drop in their net worth, from its recent peak. Meanwhile Washington policymakers have mired Americans in yet another recession, with declining output, stagnant income, and a rising jobless rate. The current recession is not yet as severe as many prior ones, but it will worsen if interventions intensify.

Yesterday Sen. James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) introduced a companion bill in the Senate to Rep. Steve King's H.R. 997, The English Language Unity Act of 2009 that would make English the official language of the United States. He did so on the same day his home state of Oklahoma passed an official English constitutional amendment in the Oklahoma House by a vote of 89-8! That measure will be on the ballot in Oklahoma in 2010.
 
The English Language Unity Act of 2009, S.991:
 
*Requires the federal government to communicate officially in English, including informational materials and forms.
 
*Creates a uniform standard for testing English proficiency in the naturalization process.
 
*Requires that naturalization ceremonies be conducted in English.
 
S.991 also nullifies Executive Order 13166, the federal mandate that requires federal fund recipients including state and local governments, to provide translations and interpreters for non-English speaking residents.
 
Throughout our history, Americans have expected immigrants to assimilate. But today government multilingualism threatens to destroy the 'Melting Pot' that enabled us to forge one nation out of millions of immigrants from every nation on earth.
 
Despite the overwhelming desires of the American people, Congress still has not acted to make English the official language of the United States.

Proof Leadership Replacement Needed

 

As I scoured the media content today seeking relevant, real news, I stumbled across a *Start Tribune Article from Reporter Mark Brunswick, “Mulch ado about nothing? Dog bill gets long debate”. Though the content of this bill highlights the current insanity exhibited by our elected leadership, I appreciate Mark’s willingness to report on a real story, Why is this bill even having a hearing.

 

In previous reports on our website here, I state we need legislative change in the capital. This bill, **HF 1306, introduced by Frank Hornstein (DFL) District: 60B, exposes the contempt elected leaders have for the OATH they took to uphold the constitution of Minnesota.

 

I contended during the 2008 campaign, the citizens of our state desperately want someone who truly represents sanity at the capital, someone actually upholding the constitution and Rule of Law. Thus the reason I continue campaigning and seek voter support in HD 50-A in 2010, and support financial from around the country. The position I take is nonpartisan as folks from all lifestyles recognize our state is out of control. An example is from a Democrat who commented on the *Star Tribune story

 

I am an embarrassed DFLer; The idea for labeling the packaging should have brought to the vendors of cocoa bean shells. We've got too many laws and too many bills any year and, frankly, too many pet dogs. As a DFLer, I am embarrassed by many of my Party's Representatives - the ones who supported this bill. May it be vetoed.

In this ideal world, believers and unbelievers, because they are created in the image of God, work together to construct society using common-ground features found in Natural Revelation. As long as most of the people believed in God, whether Roman Catholic or Protestant, such a world was possible. The evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin killed “common grace” and the belief that there is a common humanity created in the image of God. In time, nature ate up grace.[2]"
